Chapter Fifteen:
Bound To You
I found a man I can trust. And boy I believe in us. I am terrified to love for the first time. Can't you see that I'm bound in chains? I've finally found my way. I am bound to you. I am bound to you.- Christina Aguilera
*Blake's P.O.V.*
I watched Rosie dance from across the room with her cousins and Kelly. She had a smile on her face. She looked happy. And I don't know why, but I found that to be weird. Because when I saw her doing school today, she looked so sad. Maybe she just missed her family.
You know why she was sad.
I heard a voice say in my head and I tried my best to ignore it. I sighed and looked over at Bennie and Mrs. Martinez. They were laughing as they sat alone at a table. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him. She laughed as he whispered something into her ear and I sighed. Why couldn't I have a one single relationship like that?
Because you're a dick head.
My conscience sad again. And it must hate me. I mean I would hate me too. I'm a terrible person. My own best friend hates me now because of what I'm doing to Rosie. Alex was the third most important girl to me that I never wanted to let down. Yes, Rosie came before her because I've known her longer. I wouldn't want to let her go even if my life depended on it. She meant everything to me and once I was sure she like me back, I go and ruin it all.
I looked over to the dance floor and saw Alex dancing with one of Rosie's cousins. I smiled and took another sip from the drink that was in my hand. Whatever it was. I had been standing here just that long. She had a smile on her face and I was glad she looked happy. She hasn't been like that for a while.
"Excuse me? Excuse me? Hello?" I heard Rosie's voice coming through the speakers. I looked towards the stage and saw her tapping the microphone, to get everyone's attention. I leaned against the wall, waiting for her next words to be said.
"Thank you. Um, would everyone gather around the table so we can sing Happy Birthday to dear old Bennie?" She said and everyone laughed as they moved towards the table. I sighed and pushed my self so I could stand up straight, and started walking towards the table.
"I'm not that old. I'm only thirty seven." Bennie said and everyone laughed at his words.
"Yeah, yeah. Just get in front of the cake." She said and smiled at him.
There's goes that pang of guilt in my chest again. Seeing a smile on her face that I didn't cause. It made me feel bad.
"Alright, on the count of three, everybody sing. One, two, three! Happy Birthday to you." Rosie started to sing. Everybody joined in and watched as Bennie looked around at everybody and at his cake. I sung lowly to myself and looked around the room, until my eyes landed on Rosie's. She started to laugh as she looked at Bennie and then her eyes landed on me. You saw a glint of something in her eye, by the way she looked at me. But she turned her head the other way and kept on singing the song.
