His Slave

His Slave Chapter 26

The A&E ward was busy. It buzzed with energy. Doctors and nurses ran around tending to patients of all shapes and sizes. 

Cali lay on the hospital bed high on morphine. She was surrounded by Kim and Kyle who both held her hands.  

"It's going to be ok Cali" spoke Kim gently. Cali didn't have the energy to speak, instead she lay silently in the pale blue hospital gown on the uncomfortable bed. An oxygen mask was covering her mouth as she wheezed in the clean air. Her whole body felt numb and tingly. Her stomach still ached and she could feel it twisting, but it was nothing like the pain before. 

She could hear the constant beep of machines hooked up to her via a cannula in her arm- every second monitoring her. 

Suddenly the curtain enclosing her bed was pulled back revealing the full extent of the ward. It wasn't any surprise the small female assistants accompanied male doctors obeying their every order. Was there no where Cali could escape this world of male dominance? 

Chris walked in with another much older looking doctor.  

He worrle stylish glasses and a plain white shirt and black trousers. A stethoscope hung around his neck. 

"Right then Cali" he said while checking her notes "it's seems you've had an ectopic pregnancy, do you know what that is?" He asked, Cali shook her head trying to focus on him, her eyes wouldn't stay still. "Ok well instead of implanting its self in your womb, your embryo had decided to grow in a tube outside which is very dangerous. It's got to a stage where it's ruptured and now very serious. luckily I can fix it with medication and induce a natural miscarriage, is that ok?" Cali didn't understand, why did she have to lose the baby? 

She knew it was Aidan's but she still had feelings for it. She only knew it existed for an hour but already she felt responsible for it.  

"Cali? It's the only option we have?" Said the doctor stroking her arm.  

Reluctantly Cali nodded. Finn wouldn't approve of her keeping it and the thought of having a part of Aidan constantly inside her made Cali feel sick. She had already lost the baby so what choice did she have? 

Slowly she nodded her head.  

"Ok I'll sort that out now" said the doctor walking away.  

Cali swallowed and sank down into the bed sheets. She did not want to be here, she did not want to be making these choices, but worst of all... She wanted Finn with her. 

Cali closed her eyes again and tried to sleep. The surrounding noises made it difficult and Cali couldn't relax.  

Suddenly the noises got louder, something was causing a commotion on the ward. Cali opened her eyes. 

Finn ran in through the main doors carrying a girl in his arms, a blonde girl, GWEN!!! 

Cali sat up and ripped the mask of her face. "Finn!! Gwen!!" She screamed as Kyle and Kim tried to make her lie down again. "Get off me!" Spat Cali as she tried to get up.  

Finn was now surrounded by doctors, they brought over a stretcher to his side. Gently placing Gwen's body down Finn looked over to Cali. "Stay there beautiful! I'll be with you in a minute!"  

Cali's heart felt like it was about to burst, she loved that man so much.  

He'd saved Gwen for her, but the question was if Gwen and the baby were still alive.  

Gwen's body was quickly rushed out of sight by a crowd of doctors and Finn followed. 

Cali gave in to Kyle's pleading and sat back down in the bed. 

THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! thought Cali. What if she lost Gwen, what if Aidan came back!  

Cali began to panic, now the truth was out there was no telling what could happen next.  

"Cali breathe" hushed Kim comforting Cali. "Gwen's pregnant and Aidan could come back!" Blurted out Cali bursting into tears.  

Both Kyle and Kim were momentarily shocked. Kim held Cali's weeping body in her arms. "Cali look at me?" Said Kim concerned "let the doctors look after Gwen, she'll be fine, and we won't let Aidan come anywhere near you both, ok?" She was so kind and reasuring.  

Cali turned to look at Kyle. He had left her side and was running to Gwen.

Thats when Cali realised it, Kyle had had  feelings for Gwen all along. He was always there to save her, he had always cared for her.

As Cali sat taking everything in Finn ran back around the corner skidding on the spotless floor falling at her side. He wrapped his arms around her fragile body inhaling her scent and choking back some tears. Cali reacted by lifting her hands to his back and burying her head on his chest. He smelt divine.

"I'm never letting you go" said Finn standing back and looking her in the eyes "I've let you down and I'll do anything to make it up to you, anything!" "just stay with me" sobbed cali covering her face with her hands. Finn hugged her again, slowly rocking her back and forth. After a few seconds Cali lifted her head back and aked him "is Gwen alive? Is the baby ok? Will Aidan come back?" "Doctors are treating her now, she's alive and the baby looks healthy too, shes just a bit shocked and weak, give her time, shell bounce back"

"what about... Aidan?" questioned Cali cautiously. "He's gone Cali, he wont hurt anyone anymore, I promise you. Anyway, how are you feeling, whats been happening?" "I've lost the baby" whispered Cali as some more tears fells down her cheeks. "shhhhh" hushed Finn pulling her closer.

"You know, i've wouldn't have minded if it survived, it would have been beautiful just like its mother" there was a feint sign of a smile on Cali's lips. Finn had changed, he wasn't the cruel man who bought her all those month ago.

"Cali I'm so sorry all of this has happened, I'll do anything to make you happy, I can't lose you again. What do you want? I'll do anything for you?"

Cali sat thinking for a second, what was going to happen after she and Gwen left the hospital?

"I want to move to the beach villa" whospered Cali, Finn smiled. "I want to move there, just me, you, Gwen and her baby, away from everyone, our little paradise" "I think we'll have to let Kyle come too" Joked Finn "from the look of it he wont leave Gwen's side"

Cali giggled wiping the tears from her eyes, maybe the future didn't look too bleak after all, maybe there was hope...
