Chapter 5 - Unexpected

Ralf had gathered all the wood needed for their fireplace, JR and Inigo waiting for him as Ralf had placed the wood on the ground in front of them.

"Took you long enough to get those wood." JR said as he grabbed some of them and makes the fireplace on a hole that he had dug with Tyrone.

"I was being specific when choosing wood. Sorry..." Ralf guiltily smiled.

As soon as JR had all the wood set and made the fireplace, he left Inigo to do his thing as he stood back,

"Alright, Inigo. Do your thing."

Inigo smirked,

"Leave it to me." he said, cracking and snapping his fingers then wiggling them as his hands glowed bright orange, fire formed around them and soon, he released the energy he made aiming at the fireplace and shot out a glob of flames, soon, they had fire.

"There 'ya go!" Inigo folded his hands.

"Thanks." JR said.

Soon, everyone of the Familiars had all gathered around the fireplace, JR putting his hands near the fire to keep himself warm, Inigo playing with the fire, Tyrone chatting with Kelvin, Zef had prepared their sleeping bags for tonight and the rest were in their siesta.

As JR and Ralf had warmed themselves by the fire, JR sat with his knees to his chest, his chin resting on top of the knees.

"So...about tomorrow...if we split up, maybe we could find progress to our journey." He planned.

"Then...how are we gonna communicate if we find something afar?" Ralf asked.

"Zef can help with the guiding." He responded, looking at him.

Ralf seemed to make an agreed expression, nodding soon as he places his hands to the fire.

Midnight had came, the two cousins had huddled themselves inside their sleeping bags. JR couldn't sleep, though, turning and changing positions, trying to feel a bit comfortable, he tried those, but none could make him drowsy and sleep.

"Hey, coz?" he turned to his sleeping cousin, hoping he's still awake.

"Yeah.....?" Ralf groaned, lying in a neutral position.

"I can't sleep." he complained.

"Just close your eyes and sleep." he changed his sleeping position to his left, eyes still closed.

JR pouted. "Cooz!"

"What do you expect me me to do...? Read you a story or something to make you sleep?" still in his left, groaning.

"No...."

Actually, JR himself didn't know why he couldn't sleep. Maybe he kept thinking about what will happen tomorrow and what they may find for their hike's progress, or maybe he just doesn't want to sleep yet, or maybe he just can't sleep.

"You know what? Good night." JR turned to his right side and tried to sleep. It worked eventually as the night had passed.

Morning had come, the two cousins had woken up early to start their hike and find their progress. Zef had carried their backpacks as the hike went on in the trees and bushes they passed.

"Alright, let's split." JR stopped, Ralf doing the same thing.

"You know what to do, okay?" Ralf said as his wings spreads out in a split second.

"Yeah. Just be careful out there." JR's wings spreads out once his sentence had finished.

Ralf had gone first to his left, leaving JR and Zef behind. As JR took one last glimpse to his leave, he had left as well, flying straight to the direction he planned to go.

Ralf flew past trees, his eyes moving left and right in search of progress. Sometimes, he had to land on the ground to check on something his eye had caught.

On the other hand, JR looked for progress just by flying. No need for landing on ground unless he found something. Zef had gone somewhere, into the search as well.

"Sire. I have found something." A voice in his mind had occurred, it was Zef, who had talked to him in telepathy.

"Tell me where you are." JR ordered, Zef telling him his exact location, JR soon changing direction.

Minutes later, JR arrived at an edge of a cliff. What he had seen surprised the boy.

"I have found it, sire." Zef responded in a neutral tone.

"Woah..." JR blinked in awe.
