They walked the whole day and since they had just started, they were in high spirits, and their courage was still young. They didn't feel too tired. But as the sun set, they were forced to rest. They decided to spend the night right there on the path because there was no other place to go. But, now there was the problem of a shelter. They were in a desert, and the night was getting colder by the second.
"Let's check in our packs. Mahad said there would be everything we need in there." Mah-Rukh said, sitting down and opening her bag.
The rest of them followed her lead. A few moments had passed, when Mah-Rukh straightened. She was holding three white plastic rods in her hand.
"What are these?" She said, looking around at all of them.
"Huh, no idea, but I have them too." Shad said, straightening, and in his hands he was holding a couple more identical rods.
"Ok, let's all dump out everything in our bags. Let's see what else there is inside these things." Asbar advised, so they all turned their bags upside down, and began examining the contents.
In every bag, there were about four water bottles, five or six weird plastic packets, which had no labels on either side of them and a couple of cans of the same type.
After that, there were things found in their individual packs only. Mah-Rukh's bag had spoons and forks, Shad had a tin opener, Asbar had a long cloth made out of some kind of water proof material. What it was for, they couldn't find out. They put it in the middle with the rods from Mah-Rukh and Shad's bags. Khizar also had a cloth like Asbar's but it was a little smaller. It also went to the pile in the middle. Sehr had a small handled pan, and a folded paper. She opened the paper, and spread it out on the pile in the middle where all of them could see it. They excitedly gathered around . it had some weird drawings with instructions of some sort.
"What is this?" Shad asked puzzled
"A piece of paper." Asbar replied innocently.
"Idiot!" Shad said, smacking Asbar lightly on the back of his head. "I know that! I meant what are these instructions for?"
"I think it has something to do with all this." Sehr said gazing thoughtfully at the paper and pointing to the things in the middle pile.
"Ha!" Khizar, who was examining the instructions more closely, exclaimed suddenly."I know what this is! It's a tent!"
"How did you know that?" Mah-Rukh asked him surprised.
"Look." He said smugly, turning the sheet over, to show a finished picture of a standing tent.
"Oh!" All of them exclaimed surprised.
They started laughing at their previous confusion. Then they started working on the tents, following the diagrams. In half an hour, the tent was up and standing. There were actually 2 tents, one smaller than the other. They stepped back to survey their work. Asbar let out a huge yawn. Shad standing beside him yawned too, then Khizar, Mah-Rukh and Sehr started yawning. They all laughed.
"Well I think it's time for bed. Why don't we boys sleep in the bigger tent, and you girls can sleep in the smaller one?" Khizar asked, and they nodded and entered their respective tents. Soon all was quiet. The only sound was of their quiet breathing. All of them were fast asleep, that's why no one saw the silent people wandering near their tents...
