It's been a few weeks since the morning I discovered Glenn had been a demon, we told each other story's of our homes and our friends. He explained why he chose to help me, an angel and we easily became closer and closer with each day. I have learned more of the basics of living here on earth, and I have even adopted the name Ella. Margaret seemed to long, and one day Glenn called me Ella by mistake and it just kinda stuck. The name also makes everything easier to adjust to, almost like I'm a new angel, or should I say person.
I walk into the old coffee shop on the corner of the street, I examine the red chairs for Glenn. I spot him at our favourite table wearing a dark blue tee shirt that makes his eyes almost sparkle. He looks up and we make eye contact, a very familiar smile forms and he motions for me to join him. I set down the book I had been carrying with me from purchasing it from the book shop. " I see you decided to wear the first dress you ever tried on." He says with a slight grin.
I laugh a little and take my seat across the small table from him. An older waitress name Patricia walks over with a small coffee in hand. " Oh hello Ella, would you like your usual latte?"
" Yes please Patricia! Thank you very much." I respond with a soft smile, as I watch the waitress walk away. I turn my attention back to Glenn who seems somewhat distracted. " So what's so important Glenn, is something wrong?" He directs his attention outside the window for a long minute before looking at me again.
" Well maybe, one of my friends from home -Deklan- wants to visit me. He has been here longer than I have, and he's not really a fan of um, people from your home." He frowns at me with a pained look. A demon that doesn't like angels, fun.
" So When is he visiting?"
" He wants to meet at the park at noon, so in a few minutes. I was wondering if you, maybe-" Glenn pauses and rubs the back of his neck with his hand. " Do you wanna come with me? Of anyone you are the most likely to change his mind."
I consider for a moment before I answer. Meet a demon that really doesn't like angels, what could go wrong?
" I guess so. But can I finish my latte and meet you there. It would be rude to order it and just leave." Glenn agrees and gives me instructions on where to meet him. He leaves right before noon leaving me alone to my own thoughts. MY latte comes and I drink it while reading my new book, though I never actually get off the first page. I find that I am to distracted by everything that could go wrong to actually read anything.
Once my latte was empty I paid the kind waitress and make my way to the park as instructed by Glenn. I walk along the path through the empty park listening to the sounds of the birds singing. I make it to the area Glenn said I would find him but nobody is around. " Maybe I didn't go far enou-" Something cold is pressed against my throat before I can finish my sentence.
" Show me your wings." A mans chilling voice whispers into my ear calmly. I wriggle a little but the sharp object is pressed harder into my skin. " You heard me, show 'em to me." I close my eyes and hold my breath for a second surveying the situation. Obviously a demon who knows what I am. Suddenly his tall body is pressed against my back, kinda stupid since he wants to see my wings. I raise my arm and hold it on the blade I pull it off of my neck and slide down out of the way of the knife.
I run out of reach and turn to face the dark haired man. " Deklan I presume?" His deep green eyes widen for a second but he seems to shake it off. " You wanna see my wings huh? Well remember this is your fault." I close my eyes and feel my wings form on my back. When they open again I see the man standing on guard with the blade aimed towards me. "Now I wanna see yours."
His face changes completely suddenly looking surprised. " Heh, okay just for you." His voice sharp like daggers directed at me. His eyes close and suddenly his back is surrounded by the shadow equivalent of my wings. His eyes open slowly to reveal they have changed to black just as mine have changed to gold. He smirks at me before lunging forwards slamming into me, we roll and he pins my shoulders down with his forarm and uses his other arm to hold the dagger once again to my throat. He lets out a low laugh feeling accomplished. I slam my knee up hitting him in between his legs as hard as I can, causing him to scream loud. I grab the knife from his hand and throw him over on to the ground where he lays in pain. I stand up slowly and press my foot into his chest with the godly strength I have been granted from home.
" I'm wearing a dress you asshole. You could at least be a bit of a gentleman" he looks somewhat defeated when he can't pull himself up. I lean and hold the knife to his throat. " It's not a pleasant feeling is it?" Hs smirks at me again and surprises me by grabbing the knife and tossing it to the side. And in one swift motion he grabs my arms and flips us over. His face is only centimetres from mine.
His hands are holding mine and suddenly his eyes fade back into a deep green. " I think I win." His stubbled face moves even closer to mine. I feel my wings fade away as I fight him off of me.
"Ella!" I look over to see Glenn running towards us with dark eyes. Deklan looks over towards Glenn too and I take the opportunity to slap my hand across his face.
Glenn stops at my movements. " That's for the dress you ruined." Deklan rubs his hand over his red face and glares at me. Feeling accomplished I push him off of me easily and stand up, looking him in the eye. " I believe I won. " I look at Glen before making my way over to Him. " So this is the guy you wanted me to meet? Quite the charmer." Both of us look in his direction and see him stand up slowly.
" Yah, I'm sorry about that. He just kind took off and I can't keep up with him. It's one of his gifts." A fast runner? Fun.
Deklan dusts off his black shirt and blue jeans before making his way towards us.
He looks at me before speaking to Glenn. " Your girl can hold her own." His voiced sounds annoyed and defeated making me smirk.
Glenn's face twists in surprise. " Did you just compliment her?" His voice somewhat strained.
Deklans dark figure shifts a bit. " yah, don't get to used to it." I glare in Deklans direction before walking over to the place I dropped my book and picking it up. Of course it's filled with dirt, so I dust it off as best as possible listening to the guys conversation. " You know I don't have room for you in my place. So where do you plan to stay?" Glenn says in a frustrated tone.
" I don't know, the streets?" Deklan replies sarcastically.
Suddenly I can't here anything so I start to turn around to find Deklan standing right in front of me. " What do you think about letting me stay in your apartment Angel? Sorry, Ella." I can practically feel the daggers he's trying to send in my direction. After our stellar meeting he wants me to let him stay in my apartment? Where he could attack me at anytime, is he serious?
I look at Glenn who shrugs almost pleadingly." Fine, how long am I gonna have to deal with this headache?
With a smile Deklan replies quickly. " only two months."
" Two months?!" Both Glenn and I yell at the arrogant demon.

" Maybe longer, I need to be here for a job." Without questioning anything I nod. " Fine, but it's for Glenn not you." and with that a turn and run towards my apartment, getting there quickly and easily. I close the front door and sink down regretting agreeing to let him stay with me when there is a knock at the door.
"Ella? It's me open up." Glenn's voice echoes a bit in the empty hallway. I stand up and face the door.
" Why should I let him stay here? One good reason, that's all i need." There is silence for a moment, and just as I'm about to change my decision Glenn speaks up.
"Because you trust me." My heart sinks at the quiet words. It's true, I do trust him and I always will. I should be able to take his word about Deklan, after all Glenn would never ask me to do this if it was dangerous. And I do owe him for helping me when I arrived here, for teaching me how to live here.
I open the door and look at the concerned man standing in front off me, his eyes full of sadness. Without saying anything I wrap my arms around him and stand there for a minute. " I do trust you, you jerk." I look up at him and smile, and yet he still has a frown. I stare at his face for a while before I start to wonder if I did something wrong.
"Glenn?" My voice seems to snap him out of his own thoughts, and he looks down at me again.
" I'm sorry about all of this." His voice seems weak, and it makes my heart ache to see the normally gleeful man so hurt.
Just as I'm about to reply Deklan comes around the corner practically yelling at us.
" So this is gonna be where I'm staying?" Glenn and I look over at the abnoxious man and I scoff at him.
" Fine, but there are gonna be rules." I open the door again and walk in, leaving Glenn standing in the hall way with Deklan. " You are gonna sleep on the couch, you can buy your own food and I swear to god if you put another knife to my throat I will make you regret it."
With a smirk Deklan walks into the apartment followed closely by Glenn. I make my way into my bedroom and close the door. My dress is gonna need to be washed, and I don't really feel like wearing it now so I change into a black tank top and blue jeans and to top it off I put on my leather jacket. I walk into my bathroom and look in the mirror, my throat has a few thin lines probably from the blade. And my face is covered in dirt, probably from rolling around in the struggle. I turn the tap for cold water and let it run for a second. I cup my hands under the steady stream of water and watch them fill up. The cold water feels good on my hands which are somewhat sore from wrestling with Deklan. My hands seem to have suffered some damage from when I grabbed the blade to remove it from my throat. A small amount of blood trickles into the water from my hands while I rinse them. Next I wash off the dirt on my face by lifting the water up in my hands. It takes a few tries to get all of it off but it's defiantly more comfortable. And finally I wash up my neck to hopefully make the marks less noticeable. " Damn, it actually hurts." I whine a bit to myself.
I wander out of my bedroom and into the living room to see Glenn and Deklan sitting on two separate couches. Glenn seems to be talking somewhat angrily to a smug Deklan who is simply listening. Deklan looks up and sees me but doesn't say anything, I walk over and sit next to Glenn not wanting to be near the demon who seems to hold a grudge against me. " Looks like I managed to do something other than fight you." Deklan speaks loudly as if he is the centre of the world, as if there are no consequences.
" Why do you have to be such a jerk Deklan?" Glenn asks in a frustrated tone, obviously upset from the look on his face. Deklan smiles calmly sitting comfortably.
" Brother, I was simply testing her. I wanted to see if she would fight back. And she did." He leans forward waiting for a reply from Glenn but nothing is said.
"I thought you were just friends, I didn't know you were brothers." Deklan lets out a sly laugh while Glenn just sinks back farther into the couch.
Glenn looks angry, no not angry. Something I can't read off his face. "Unfortunately yes,we are brothers. And as you can probably tell, we are very different."
"Yah I I got the looks and he got the brains."Deklan smiles and Glenn scoffs. I stand up and head towards the door.
With my hand on the door handle I look at Glenn. " I'm going to the Diner, you can deal with him. And if you want you can meet me there."
Glenn nods and Deklan looks somewhat surprised. " Oh and angel, that jacket looks great on you." He says with a wink. I glare at him for a second before walking out of the apartment with the slam of a door.
