Chapter 2- Discovery of the secret

The next morning when I woke up, I was so nervous but at the same time I was so excited. I was not sure what I was supposed to do but I was glad my grandmother had chosen me to be the next one to know the family tradition. When I knocked on the door, I could hear grandma's soft voice saying come in. I nervously grabbed on the door knob and opened the door.

All of the boxes that she had brought in were gone, and everything was organized and beautiful. She told me to close the door because only I could hear this secret. If anyone else heard it, the world would be harsh forever and there is no going back. I could not understand what she meant but I obeyed her. She told me to get the book that was on the small table; I slowly went to grab the book and realized on the table some pearl earrings. Grandpa must have given her those earrings, I thought. When I grabbed the book, dust started coming out. I was surprised by how dusty and old the book was. The book was torn and had very yellowish paper, like if the book was hundreds of years old. I gave the book to my grandmother and I quickly sat on her bed.

She looked through the pages and took of an old ripped letter. She handed me the letter, but as it was empty to my eyes. "Go to your room and read this letter. Make sure no one sees it, only you can see it. Remember only you. Now leave." My grandmother told me with her soft shaky voice.
"Goodbye, see you later." I told my grandmother as I closed the door.

I held onto the letter tightly like if my life depended on it, and I was also afraid of what I would see. I could see by her voice that this was an important secret. I walked into my room, and locked the door. My hands were trembling while I opened the letter. Fear that I might break the letter, I opened the letter slowly. All I could see was a blank piece of paper. How was that possible? Grandma would never give me a blank piece of paper, I kept thinking. I blinked my eyes and suddenly words started appearing, one by one.

Dear My Daughter Princess Victoria,
If you are reading this I'm probably dead and gone already. If you are able to read this that means you are my daughter, Princess Victoria. I'm your mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. You might be confused and wonder how that is possible; because you are not from the royal family but you are. You are Princess Victoria. You might not find Princess Victoria on any books because we had to bring you to the future. You were sent on a time machine. There were many people who wanted to kill you because you were the third born in the royal family. According to the prophecy, the third born child of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (which is me) will change the past and save the future. The public feared what that meant so they wanted to kill you. An old man came to me and told me that he had to send you to the future so that you would survive and save the world. I trusted him and once you were gone, the world became a cruel place. We made the world forget about you by pretending that you had died. It was forbidden to talk about you or say your name, so people slowly forgot about you during the years, except your sister Princess Margaret and the rest of your family. I told your sister Princess Margaret to find you and give you this letter. She might be very old by the time you get this letter because I told her to give it to you only when you turn 15. I don't know where you live or what your new name is but this letter is the truth. You must go back to the past and save the future. The world will remain harsh if you don't go back. Please save us, save the world.
Your true mother,
Queen Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon

I was shocked and I did not know what to do. I re-read the letter to make sure everything was real. That is when I realized my grandmother was actually my sister, Princess Margaret. This family was actually my grandmother's family not my family. I was not their daughters, I was adopted. My real mother was Queen Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. This was impossible and unbelievable. Millions of questions came into my head, was I really a princess? Was I actually from the past? How can I save the world? The only place I could get my answers was if I asked my sister or what I thought used to be my grandmother.
