Loki's POV
The idea had come to Loki as he was looking for an appropriate hiding place. Let alone the ridiculty of this situation: Loki, a formerly incredibly powerful god, forced to hide because of some puny mortal with a power complex. That thought got him really upset at first, then it inspired him to spend the time he would have to avoid the flat of the mortal with something equally as important. He needed Isabelle on his side. Despite the bargain they had sealed with blood, he had to make sure that she was loyal to him. He had to win her trust and since he knew a thing or two about the mortals, he was aware of their weakest spot. Love. An unneccessary emotion he himself had stopped to believe in a long time ago as he watched people doing the most foolish things in 'the name of love', even Thor. It would be easier for him, if he made her fall for him. And he had no reason to doubt his capability of this. So the idea of doing something for her refreshing ordinary had occurred him. Such as taking her out for breakfast, since it was basically his fault that the thing she called "toaster" had eventually blown. Though he was sure that she didn't notice. Yet. He had been asking humans on the street who had reacted quite odd to his appearance, what the best place for his intentions was. One had (after he had overcome the urge of hiding behind a tree as thin as Loki's finger) recommended a place named 'Dead skull's'. Since the place seemed promising, at least judging by the name, Loki had decided to bring Isabelle there and behave like the perfect gentleman his mother had probably somewhen raised him to be. Finding his way to a mortal's heart... After plans of conquering first Asgard and then earth, that should be easy.
Isabelle's POV
As I opened my eyes again, I noticed that I had grabbed hold of Loki's jacket sleeves and autmatically took my hands away. Wait. Since when was he wearing a jacket?! I looked down Loki's figure, just to find myself completely speechless. I mean, the asgardian armour was undoubtedly sexy, but this... He wore black trousers, a tightly fitted white t-shirt and a black jacket. The human outfit emphasized his lean figure and showed the parts usually hidden under tons of green and gold armour. I sighed silently. Loki cleared his throat, directing my attention back to his face. He smirked slightly. "Like what you see?", he asked quietly. My cheeks heated up. "I am amazed by how fast you developed a sense for human fashion", I said, evading his question. He shrugged. "It is of advantage for me to remain unrecognized." Made sense. I broke my gaze away from his, to finally see where he had taken me. We were standing alone on a street under an archway of roses. I smelled the fresh air mixed with the roses and took a deep breath. Then I looked at the building in front of us, which didn't seem to fit in the romantic surrounding at all. "Dead Skull's pancakes?", I said to Loki questioningly. Now that was an... unusual name. More like superweird. He nodded, like everybody would just casually choose a notorious Gothic Restaurant with a suspicious name for a visit. "Since it is my fault that you firstly woke up early and then didn't get to eat something this morning, I thought I would make sure for you to get some now." I smiled surprised at him. That was so sweet and thoughtful... Now what should I think about this? His behaviour was swaying like the wind, turning into different directions every minute. But since I really was starving, I was glad about his invitation. Even if it was to a place called 'Dead skull's pancakes'. Hey, I shouldn't judge, the name had a special something....maybe. "That's awesome", I sighed,"I love pancakes." He grinned. "Good." Then he took my arm and led me into the breakfast place. It was sparely lightened by candles, the red and black curtains, even fabric on the ceiling, practically screamed gothic. Dear god. Even Loki frowned, then he probably shrugged it away as 'another weird human thing'. Well who cares about the place when there's food, right...
After ordering a pancake with chocolate cream, I leaned back in my seat. "Are you sure you don't want to eat something?", I asked him again. He shook his head. "I am not hungry." "You are human now... Maybe you should try to get used to human habits. Like having breakfast." Loki narrowed his eyes a bit. "What I would like to know... Why do you know so much about my current situation?", he asked and I could hear honest curiousity out of his question. "Well... As you may noticed, Tony Stark is my father." I rolled my eyes. "It has up- and downsides. But I know all of the Avengers. And Thor's story of course. His situation was quite similar to yours, until he redeemed himself and returned to Asgard. Well, besides from your dealing with the situation." Loki nodded, satisfied with my answer. "What exactly did he tell you about me?" Oh that was a dangerous question. I hesitated.
"I know the outline of the New York incident a few months ago. Apart from that, just a few facts. You're widely known as Loki, the god of mischief and lies, Thor's annoying little brother-" He scoffed at that. "Annoying little brother? Most of the time, I was the only one of us actually behaving like a grown adult." I grinned, imagining an exasperated Loki, trying to use logic on an excited, hotheaded Thor. Still. "What about the mischievious part of you?" He winked at me, his eyes sparkling. "Oh, just a bit of fun, sometimes." I felt the temperature in the nearly empty room rising. Mhhm... I could just imagine. At this moment, we were interrupted by a waitress with numerous piercing and tattoos, serving me my pancake. It smelled delicious and I had to fight back the urge to screw manners and eat like nobody was watching. But then, Loki said something that surprised me and I forgot my craving for the pancake. "I'm gonna pay right away." I blinked. He never had been to a restaurant before, right? I mean... he was probably really busy with his attempt to conquer New York. And actually I hadn't expected him to pay. The obviously stoned waitress grinned at him, wiggling her eyebrows. "Whatever you wish, my dark lord of evil...." Then she leant her arms on the table and looked at him expectandly. Umm... Wtf just happened? Loki blinked and stared at the woman with just as much concern of her sanity as I did. "If you would be so kind to remove your filthy human body from our table, free us from your presence and just hand me the bill before I free you from your whole, pitiful existance?", he hissed and I could tell that he would have rather dealt different with the intrusive waitress. In a way that included a dagger and fancy asgardian armour. She raised an eyebrow and looked like she just came in her pants. I mean I can understand her, Loki talking dirty was probably the best thing I ever heard, but not when talking to her. She should better keep her filthy hands off him. Finally, after I shot her a murderous glare, the disturbing woman got the bill. Loki took out a black wallet without a comment and paid in ordinary dollars, even giving her an appropriate tip. I was tempted to pinch myself, to make sure that this surreal situation was actually happening. A rude, arrogant god had breakfast with me, behaving like an (almost) perfect gentleman and casually paid for it like this was everyday life for him. Excuse me while I need a moment. As the waitress had left, Loki noticed my astonished gaze. He frowned. "Is there something wrong with your breakfast? Then I shall order the mortal back to make you an appropriate one.", he said. Okay, now stop being an adorable cupcake. "No, the pancake is delicious." He laughed. I enjoyed the rare sound of it. I liked his laugh. It softened his features and made him appear more... human. Though I was equally drown to his dark, arrogant side... "You haven't even had a taste of this... pancake. How can you be sure then that it is worth being put in your mouth?" His voice was pure smug. My eyes widened and suddenly it was really hard to breathe. I cleared my throat, my cheeks burning. I needed a topic change or I would die from a heart attack right here. And he hadn't even been openly flirtative or suggestingly. "Actually, I was thinking about you being all familiar with human behaviour at a restaurant." Nice topic change, Isabelle. He actually looked a bit embarassed. I wondered what was the story behind this. "I may have been getting advice from somebody.", he murmured. Oh, he was so adorable when he was flustered. I wondered if this was a bit of his real character I caught a glimpse on. His good side, the sweet and caring man he hid under a wall of rudeness and sarcasm, to protect his feelings and shut possible danger out. "From whom?", I dug deeper. Loki frowned, thinking about it. "Something along the lines of 'Pleasedon'tkillmeMatt'." I laughed. "Did you scare the poor thing?", I teased. A slight grin formed on his face. "I'm afraid so. I merely intended to ask him for a place to get breakfast and for some reason he got really alarmed as I asked for his name." I was still surprised that he actually had asked for the man's name. I wondered if he had also given Loki advice on a customary outfit. If so, I had to find this Matt to thank him. And maybe pay the lifelong therapy he is most likely going to need now. "You haven't even tried your pancake yet.", Loki's voice interrupted my thoughts. Oh right. As he mentioned it, I got reminded of how hungry I actually was. As I took the first bite, I closed my eyes at the lusciousness of it. This was indeed a new definition of delicious. As I opened my eyes, I noticed that Loki had been staring at me the whole time. His hungry gaze was fixed on my mouth and I realised that he maybe wasn't hungry for food... but for something else. As my eyes met his gaze, I held my breath. The candle light immersed his beautiful face in a warm light which emphasized his amazing features. His green eyes were like dark holes, attracting me to get lost and throw myself into them. I was completely unprepared struck by his burning gaze. Suddenly, he stretched out his hand and wiped a bit of chocolate from the corner of my mouth, then licking it from his finger, never removing his gaze from me. "Delicious indeed.", he murmured. Wow. Total clichée, but so much better in real life. I cleared my throat, suddenly not hungry anymore. At least not for food. I finished the pancake without any other similar actions. As we left the restaurant, I turned to Loki questioningly. "What's the next step on your undoubtedly genius plan to achieve god status again?" Loki gave me an obscure gaze. "I'd rather keep you guessing." Okay. He had been with me for about two hours and I already wasn't capable anymore of dealing with all his different emotions and signals. I sighed and followed him, wondering what he was up to now.
