Isabelle's POV

"A picnic?" I laughed disbelievingly. I didn't even think Loki would know how to spell this word, let alone knowing the meaning of it. But now we were sitting on a picnic blanket under a tree, enjoying the warm sun on our faces and the fresh air with the intoxicating smell of flowers and spring- well at least I did. "It sounded... like an interesting human thing to do. And since my destination is to return to my birth place as soon as possible, I have to act like one." Loki shrugged. I eyed him, thousands of questions burning in my mind. He sighed. "I allow you to speak." I frowned. "Umm I'm sorry, what?!" He wasn't trying to act all macho god and limit my freedom to speak, was he?! Because then he wouldn't have much luck with me. Loki blinked confused. "I can tell you have questions, mortal. You can confess your matter of concern to me." Oh. Right. Due to his fancy way of speaking, I got confused sometimes. I took a deep breath. I mean, he said I could confess my matter of concern, which in mortal-english probably meant 'just fire away already'. "This is your punishment, isn't it?" Loki stiffened and raised an eyebrow. Well, he did say 'just fire away'. Or maybe I got that wrong. Is there a dictionairy Fancy-Asgardian-Prince English to Ordinary English? Gotta google this later. "I presume, you are referring to my unvoluntarily presence on this underdeveloped realm?" I nodded, though I wasn't happy at all with the term "underdeveloped". "Seriously? You and your fancy Asgard, where everybody gets a weird name, a funny helmet and daddy issues, consider yourself above us? I bet you don't even know what a light bulb is, do you, asgard-boy?" Okay, for some reason this got me a liiittle bit upset. Loki frowned at me. Well, so he wasn't familiar with light bulbs. Who would have thought. Damn, my period was due tomorrow... Maybe I should get my PMS under control. "Do you consider yourself above me then, Isabelle?" Loki's voice was pure honey, making me think of other things than this ridiculous fight about which world had the bigger testicles. It's dark in my imagination... "I don't know, would you like that?" P. M. S. Help. Am I flirting with Loki?! Loki blinked, his eyes drawn to my mouth, his voice way too smooth for the sake of my sanity. "I am positive that if I would like it, I would like it with you." Oh my god. I might as well explain to him now how to call 911 but how when you can't even remember how to speak. It felt like the temperature was rising and suddenly, I was overly aware of his presence, the way his long leg slightly brushed against mine and his amazing green eyes were locked with mine. The most amazing thing was, that for once, he didn't shut his emotions out. I looked into his eyes and what I saw was terrific. Pain, Loneliness, Sadness, Regret and- worst of all- the veil that concealed it all. In this moment I knew, that I had been right with my first guess. He shut it all off so he didn't have to feel. A part of me was aching for him. Suddenly, Loki broke the eye contact and as he blinked, he was as closed as before. The moment was gone. He moved slightly away from me so he sat with his back on the tree now. "What?", I asked sternly. He sighed. "Nothing of your concern." Oh, not that again. "You said I could just ask. So, I was wondering. You said that your power has been taken away with your banishment- then why are you even as human able to do your... magical stuff?" Loki raised an eyebrow. "Mhh, excellent question." Did he just appreciate my question?! Who was this man? "Somebody's been attentive", he continued, "I am indeed able to use my powers, as they belong to.... another part of me, which Odin has no potentiality to cover with a spell. He might think he concealed all of my powers, but he just weakened them. A possible simile for a humans you can understand.. it is like when you paint over a painting. The color underneath is still present, just concealed. And when you scrape on the surface, the old colors come through." I had listened in fascination, even politely ignoring his obvious assume that humans were neccessarily dumber than asgardians.
"So, what is this part of you?", I asked curiously. Suddenly, his face turned hard and he gritted his teeth slightly. I knew in this second, that I wouldn't get an answer to my question. For what felt like an eternity, nobody said something. The silence was getting uncomfortable, so I decided to give it another shot. "Why me?" He stared at me and frowned. "What do you mean?" I looked on the gras, tugging on a few daisies. That's kind of a nervous habit of mine, I always fiddle with stuff when I don't exactly know what to do. Like now. "There are millions of humans on this planet. You could have forced anybody to help you and just left me on the street. Why didn't you?" Loki bit his lip absent-mindedly, seemingly thinking about my question. I unconsciously followed the move, unable to take my eyes away. He was even more handsome in the sun light with his black hair hanging slightly messy behind his ears. Through the tight white shirt I was able to see the outline of his lean but muscular body. Suddenly, I noticed that I was way too obvious staring at him. Again. Slightly blushing, I averted my gaze and pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. "Well, you were the only human trying to rescue me from the bunch of females who were chasing me. Even though you confused me with a reindeer.",Loki finally said and to my utter surprise, he smiled at me. Hmm. Seemed like he finally forgave me for the reindeer incident? I smiled back hesitantly. "Maybe we should go now.",I said as I remembered that I still had work to do. "Not everybody is a nordic god prince with family wealth." Loki raised an eyebrow. "What do you do for a living?" "I'm inventor, scientist and former soldier of the secret S.H.I.E.L.D taskforce.", I explained and hoped he wouldn't dig deeper in my past. There were some things I would rather never mention again and just forget. Loki seemed satisfied with my answer, he got up and offered me a hand. I was still surprised by his manners, but then I reminded myself that, after all, he was a prince of Asgard. Diagraced, but raised and born to be a king. I took his cold hand and as he pulled me up, I was standing barely an inch away from him. I was rather tall, a fact that I hated. But when I stood before Loki, I felt small. I was at eye level with his upper chest, which automatically led my gaze to his neck. I am not saying that I'm a neck fetishist but... Maybe I am. As I looked up at Loki's face, I noticed that he was staring at a point behind me, frowning. "What's wro-", I started, but was roughly interrupted as Loki dragged me with him without any kind of warning. I stumbled over the root of the tree we had been sitting under and fell forward helplessly. Loki, who was too distracted to notice, got caught by surprise as I fell against his body. My weight caused his human body to stumble as well and suddenly, we were laying on the ground, me on top of him. Loki's head hit the ground and I bend over him in concern. "Loki? Are you alright?" He groaned, which I took as a yes. Now I had time to fully recognize the situation we were in. Loki laid on the stone path, his head had fallen back in pain. I guess that's because his human body isn't used to any kinds of pain and physiological damage. I was laying on top of him, my arms propped to both sides of his head and our legs intertwined. I felt his heavy breathing, hard body under mine and his very own smell hit my nose. I found myself not actually wanting to get up, as suddenly- I heard a loud trigger sound. My head snapped in the direction where I had heard it just in time to see a man in a ridiculous bush costume and with a huge camera running away from us. Oh fuck. That was what Loki had seen. And as he had tried to get us out of the danger zone, I had accidentally delivered the guy the perfect headline. I could punch myself. There was no way I could outrun the reporter guy now and also, that would mean leaving Loki. I finally convinced myself to get off of him, though actually the position was quite comfortable for me. Bad timing, Isabelle. I mentally punched myself and knelt next to Loki. "Can you get up?" He nodded and lifted himself up slowly. That was when I noticed, that he had fallen on a sharp stone which had cut his head. I gasped as I saw that he was bleeding heavily on the ground. "You're bleeding!" Loki touched his head and frowned. "Being human is so pathetic.", he said. I sighed relieved. He was insulting the human race again, so I assumed that he wasn't deadly injured at least. But wasn't that typical? The only broken stone on the whole path and who fell on exactly that stone?! Normally, it would have been me. I guess my bad luck started to infect Loki. "Can you walk?", I said, biting my lip in concern, "I presume you don't want to head to the hospital, so we just have to get to my flat. I got a first aid kit and I know how to use it." He grinned for a bit, then he gritted his teeth and stood up with help from me. He swayed and had to hold himself up with an arm around my shoulder. He was quite heavy, but I could manage. Then he grabbed my arm and suddenly, the park blurred before my eyes and I knew what he was about to do. "Loki, no-", I screamed but it was too late. My flat appeared before us and just as it stopped turning in front of my eyes, Loki's body hit the unstable floor with a loud noise. His head fell back and his eyes remained closed. "Oh no, no, no!", I screamed. The teleporting thing had been way to exhausting for him in his damaged state. Typical men. I knelt next to his head, took it in my hands and checked on his breathing. It was a bit slow, but steady. Relieved, I shifted his head carefully to take a look at the wound. I brushed his hair away and was surprised by how soft it was. I caught myself wondering, what Shampoo he used. Isabelle. There's a time and a place. Oh shut up, annoying inner voice. Of course, the bleeding was increased. Huffing angrily, I ran to my first aid kit and grabbed the neccessary paraphernalia to stop the bleeding and care for the wound. As I finished binding the wound, I sat there for a moment, not sure what I should do now. Loki was heavy, but with a little help from the robot Tony had given to me for christmas (Still not funny, dad) it should work. Now I had a bit of a problem, because my only guest room was still a mess from Tony's last visit. He had tried to install a prototyp of lamps that ran on a source that would never run out of energy and should always lighten the room with just the needed amount of brightness. Well. The whole brightness thing kinda backfired and now the room was a useless reminder that I should never let my dad come anywhere near me with his prototypes. Well, that left me with only one solution now. Loki would have to sleep in my bed. Sighing, I called the robot.
As Loki finally laid in my bed, I sat down next to him exhausted and looked at his face. He looked so peaceful and almost innocent while he was asleep... Suddenly, his lips moved for a bit. Surprised, I bend down to him and I could swear he mouthed "Thank you."
