(Get ready to be mind blown by my theory in this chapter about the dragon who raised you.)

-(y/n)'s pov-

I watched, amused, as Laxus pounded the Fire Dragon's face in. While he was occupied, the Ice Mage created a hammer out of, you guessed it, ice, and went to attack the blonde. This failed miserably as Laxus electrocuted the both of them, finally ending the fight that had been going on for about ten minutes. It had all started when Lucy and all them had gotten back from their mission and properly introduced themselves. After I met those newish to the guild, I called out to Laxus using my special nickname for him, which at first annoyed him, but over time he realized he couldn't make me stop using it so he just ended up accepting it. I'd said something along the lines of "Hey Laxy! Cometh hither!", and as he obeyed I heard Gray and Natsu snickering behind me.
"Hehe... Laxy.." They giggled, and Laxus growled deeply, obviously pissed. Which led to the fight that just ended with Laxus beating the fuck out of the two rivals.
"Christ Laxy, that was like, ten minutes! That would've only taken me five!" I called out, making fun of my friend. He sighed, ruffling my hair. "Sure it would've, shorty." He rolled his eyes, and I huffed at his mocking attitude and nickname. "I'm not short. You're just freakishly tall!" I protested, trying to get a rise out of him. He just gave me an incredulous look, but that was enough to set me off. Before he knew it, I'd hooked my foot behind his knee and jerked it towards me, causing him to fall. As he toppled over, I jumped on his chest and punched my fist out an inch from his throat. "Hell, seeing how you fell to me, I get the feeling those two imbeciles couldn't last five seconds against me. Wanna test this theory?" I asked, and the rivals jumped to their feet, riled up by my proclamation. "We'll see about that!" Natsu cried. I sighed as they both charged me, and stood up. I waited for the last second before readying my attack. "Water dragon iron fist!" I yelled, punching them simultaneously to the ground. Once they came to, Natsu looked up at me, confused. "You're a water dragon slayer?" He asked, and I shook my head. "No, I'm not. See, I was raised by Acnologia. Since he ate the souls of all the dragons, he gained all their powers. (How do you like my theory? Think it's plausible?) Thus, when he found me, he naturally taught me every thing he knows." I answered, shrugging. At the mention of Acnologia's name, everyone froze. I sighed. This was exactly why I didn't want to tell anyone about the dragon who raised me and imparted all his knowledge into me. It wouldn't exactly be received very well. "Anyway..." I said, smiling. Laxus stared up at me, shocked, but soon over came it and saved me from the awkward environment by changing the topic. "You know, it took you ten seconds to beat them, when you claimed you could do it in five. I counted." He smirked, and I thanked God for him, my best friend. Then I realized something. He only considered me to be his best friend. Nothing more, and nothing less.
It broke my heart, but I've been living with that feeling for the past 11 years or so. I could live like that for another however long I must. It won't kill me. Sure, it hurts like hell but I'll survive.

-Laxus' pov-

I looked up at (y/n), who was still standing over me, though she had already taken me, Natsu, and Gray down. I wasn't complaining. It wasn't everyday you get to have your crush standing over you for extended periods of time. I watched as a look of slight agony crossed her features, before disappearing fast enough to make me think I'd imagined it. "Something wrong, kiddo?" I asked, worried about the small girl. She looked at me, and locked her (e/c) eyes on mine. "Hm? Oh, no, I'm fine..." She smiled, and I could tell it was forced, but decided not to push it.

After all, she'd tell me when she was ready. I hope.
