-(y/n)'s pov-

I looked around, realizing I hadn't seen Ace in a while, which was odd, since usually she'd be on me about my paying her back immediately. I looked around the guild and soon figured out why she hadn't tried to bother me.

The poor exceed was lovesick.

I watched as she followed Pantherlily around, and sighed. I knew she'd deny it if I confronted her about it, but it was blatantly obvious. Ace loved Lily. And that kinda pissed me off. Not that I had anything against Lily, it was his partner I wasn't too fond of. Gajeel always managed to get on my nerves, and I wasn't quite sure why. Personality wise, he was a lot like Laxus, which confused me even more. I absolutely adored Laxus, but Gajeel never failed to grate on my nerves. Maybe it's because he attacked Fairy Tail...? But that was so long ago, and it's obvious he's changed since then. I don't know. Whatever it is, I can't figure it out. I went to go over to Lily and Ace when I bumped into someone, and upon looking up, I cursed my misfortune.
Standing above me was none other than Gajeel Redfox. "Watch where you're goin', shrimp." He growled at me, and I growled back. Maybe that was it. The shitty nicknames he gave me. At least Laxus' insulting nicknames for me had class, whereas Gajeel just said what was on his mind. Usually, it was calling me shrimp, and I hated it. "Oh shut up, Metal Mouth." I shot back at him, making him growl again. Laxus came over, towering over the both of us. "What's going on here?" He demanded. "Tin Grin here got in my way, that's what!" I complained to Laxus, making him sigh. "Gajeel, unless you want the ass kicking of your life, I recommend you move." Laxus told him, and the studded dragon slayer grumbled, but moved along anyway. I grinned, victorious. "Thanks Laxy-kun!" I exclaimed, grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling his face down to my level so I could kiss his cheek. Once that was done, I skipped off and over to where Ace was, along with Lily. We chatted for a while, completely oblivious to my best friend.

-Freed's pov-

I watched as Laxus walked upstairs, moderately dazed. He sat down heavily, placed his hand on his cheek, and blushed. "What's with you? You're acting like you're on cloud nine." I asked, kind of concerned for him. This wasn't the Laxus I knew. Hell, this wasn't the Laxus anyone knew.
"W-what are you talking about? I'm fine!" He snapped, the blush quickly fading, and he came back to reality. I sighed, but accepted the lie anyway. There wasn't anything I could do, seeing as he'd reverted back to his normal self and would deny it to his last breath. A trait that I usually admired in him, but when I was trying to figure something out, such as now, it made it impossible. At least this time, I was able to get some clarity. Laxus watched as the small, (h/c) haired woman bounced up the stairs, a quest in hand.
"Hey Lightning Rod, you should go on a quest with me." She stated, shoving the piece of paper in his face. He examined it and paled. "(Y/n)... That's an SS-class quest.." He muttered, looking at the description.
"And?"
"Aren't you banned from those?"
"Psssssh....! Nah, that's only decade and century quests. S and SS-class are fine." He sighed, looked over the quest once more, and looked back at her.
"Fine. I'll do it."
