Leslie Shay was considered your average teenage girl. Fresh out of high school. Wanting to seek out adventure and something new. But growing up with two older brothers and her dad with held that from happening. Being the baby of the family, she was guarded from all male specimen like a prison with wire fences twelve feet tall.

She grew up in the garage with her siblings, building race cars and mostly American muscle cars were her favorite. She did not care if grease ended up ruined the natural oil in her nail beds or motor oil in her hair. She was in no way a girly girl.

She knew how to drive like no other girl. All the tricks and trades she had learned from her father and brothers. While years went by and her older brothers grew up and walked away from the car scene, she was more in depth with it then ever before.

Her father had smiled at his daughter as she was laid underneath his old Mustang working on it in shorts and vans cladded on her feet

Her father had smiled at his daughter as she was laid underneath his old Mustang working on it in shorts and vans cladded on her feet. He knew that she would always be one the boy's in the house as her personality showed itself as she was very young.

Leslie's POV:

I sat quietly at the dinner table with my father across from me as we ate. The television blared in the background with NASCAR on. I hoped one day that I could be just like them, but not exactly. My style was more of street racing. I guess it was the rush of doing something illegal and the possibility of getting caught, but go on the run at high speeds.

I have always wanted to be like my brothers growing up. They went to car meets every night on the weekends to hang out with their friends and make amazing memories.

"How are you doing Pal?" My dad, Martin, said to me from across the table with a smile.

You see my dad has been calling me Pal since I was little when I confused the word 'pail' with 'pal'. It has stuck ever since that one day at the beach. My father was my world ever since my mom pasted away and all my brothers moved out of the house.

It was just me and him; we have never been closer. I gave him a shy smile as I shoved more food into my mouth to avoid the conversation since I knew it would bother him if I did not give him a answer soon.

When I looked back up at him, he had a playful scowl on his face and I set down my fork and wiped my mouth of any pasta sauce that might of ended up in the corners of my lips.

"Well, I am officially done with school till the spring and you should be so proud of me since I passed with all A's and high B's." I said sarcastically to him, he just chuckled and looked up at the ceiling.

Before he had the chance to respond, the door bell rang. I told him that I got it and stood up to answer the door. The door bell rang again and yelled 'I am coming!'

When I opened the door, it revealed my cousin Danny. I considered her to be my best friend since I really did not have any friends when I graduated. I was more of the odd girl in my school since I did not stay up with the trends and glossed my lips and nails every day in the public bathrooms at school.

"Hey girlie! I missed you so much!" Danny said as she walked into the front room and gave me a small hug as she came in. I smiled at her as she gave me a hug, I am glad that she stops by once in a while.

Danny walked through my house like the back of her hand since she was here so much. I followed in tow of her as she retreated to the kitchen, where my dad was cleaning of the dinner dishes.

"Hey Mr. Shay, how are you doing my man!" Danny said enthusiastically as she threw her arm over my dad's shoulder. He glanced over at her and had a bored tone face on.

Oh no...

"What is it that you want or need Daniella.." He said as if he already knew that she wanted something from him.

She sent him a full out smile that was so fake, any one could tell it was forced.

"Well...I was wondering if I could bring Leslie to a car meet tonight..?" As she asked her question with puppy dog eyes on full display.

Damn she was good..

My dad looked at her then at me then back to her and let out a long sigh of defeat..Since when did I agree to this?

I had my night all planned out to spend it underneath the hood of my dad's old mustang. I looked towards the wall as if it was the most interesting thing it the world.

But I knew at the end of the conversation that Danny would win and I would have no choice in whether what I want to do because I will end up leaving this house in the end.

"ARE YOU READY TO GO LEE?" I heard Danny yell from the bottom of the stairs, damn that women for being so loud at a time like this. We lived in a neighborhood filled with senior citizens living in each other houses down the road and this women decides to yell like Godzilla on top of the Empire State Building. Nice one.

I looked at myself one more time in the mirror before I left my room. There was a breeze coming in through my window that sent a chill up my spine, but I do not know why as to why I was nervous to go to my first car meet ever.

I guess it was all my excitement was built up into one bubble and I was finally getting to go to one. I remembered to tell myself to remain calm and myself. But I was so ready for this night.
