Chapter Sixteen

I quickly grabbed Tyler’s arm and dragged him to the window booth, hoping the high chair would hide us both. Tyler gave me a questioning look but I just held my finger to my lips, indicating that he be quiet.

“Burgerfuel is good” I heard Derek reply shortly.

“But I want to go to a restaurant! It’s so dirty and noisy in here” I heard Fiona sniff her nose, clearly looking down on the fact that she was in a burger joint.

“Don’t complain. You’re lucky I even asked you out” I felt the anger boil inside me. I didn’t like Fiona but even she didn’t deserve to be treated like that.

“What?”

“I only asked you out to get Rose jealous”

“You what!?” I cringed at Fiona’s high pitched squeal.  “Ok whatever, Derek, but if you want to get her really jealous then you have to make me have a good time so then tomorrow I can brag about it to her” Huh? Did she not even care that was getting used? I heard Derek sigh,

“I guess you’re right. Come on then, but you have to promise me that you will make it sound great” After a couple minutes of not hearing any voices, I peeked around the booth to find the two had left.

“They are just as bad as each other” I said, turning to Tyler, only to realise that he was closer than I first thought. I blushed and quickly moved away,

“Uh…yeah” Tyler replied, his cheeks turning red, “Those two are really something. I can’t believe you have to work with them” Then a thought occurred to me,

“Tyler, did Derek see you? In the past I mean”

“Yeah he did. So if he saw me now, it would be a disaster” My heart clenched. I really did want to spend more time with Tyler but if Derek spotted him, who knew what would happen. Tyler seemed to read my mind because he leaned over and squeezed my hand,

“Don’t worry, Rose. I can take care of myself and I really do not want to stop seeing you. Now it’s about time I take you home, you can eat your burger at home” I smiled, the fear and uneasiness I felt slowly ebbing away at the touch of Tyler’s comforting hand.  As we walked home Tyler didn’t let go of my hand and I found myself concentrating more on the feeling of warmth emanating from his hand than the actual conversation. Finally we arrived at my apartment,

“Thank you for today, it was really fun”

“Same here. Don’t hesitate to call me, I’ll come visit you anytime you want” I smiled, my heart fluttering. I was about to open the door when Tyler caught my arm, turned me back around and kissed me deeply. It took a few seconds to respond but soon I was returning it with no hesitation. I can’t really explain what happened but it was if something blocked was knocked down, as if I had done this many times before but I stayed away for a long time. It was as if I was complete.

Reluctantly I pulled away, needing some air.

“I’ve been wanting to do that for so long” Tyler whispered, resting his forehead against mine.

“It wasn’t too bad for me too” I grinned, loving how close our bodies were. Tyler pulled away and instantly I wanted to be with him again,

“Stay safe, Rose. Goodnight” With that he walked away. I opened the door and stepped in to find past Tyler on the couch,

“Hey Rose, welcome home. You bought dinner home?” As I stared at Tyler I couldn’t help but feel my chest tighten. How was I supposed to act normal around him when I had just kissed the future Tyler without abandon. A flood of emotions ran through me. I wanted to throw myself at him but I knew he wasn’t the same person. Then I felt like I had cheated on him, although we weren’t dating and in theory he was the same person as the one I just kissed.

“Rose, is something wrong?” Tyler walked over to me and I realised that I had not moved from the door. I shook my head and removed my shoes,

“Uh…yeah…fine. Hey you want this, I’m not so hungry anymore” I said, thrusting the burger into his hands.

“Burgerfuel?”

“Oh yeah, it’s a burger place that came from America, or somewhere. Anyway I have to write up tomorrows lesson plan so I’m going to bed now. Goodnight, Tyler”

“Uh…goodnight, Rose” As I closed the door my heart was beating wildly. What was I going to do? How was I supposed to keep this hidden? Most importantly, did Tyler and I fall in love while living together?

A/N: I want to profusely apologise to all my fans! I am so so so sorry! After starting University (College) I have just had no time to update this story :( I have been so busy! The week after next I have a two week holiday so I'm hoping to update a bit more during that time...again I am so sorry! I hope you enjoyed it :) Love you guys!
