"I'm so bored!" I exclaimed to my empty room. Who's idea was it for me to go to Kisuke's? I should've gone to Ichigo's, then at least Kon or my zanpakuto could keep me company...

I plopped down and groaned when my back hit the floor. "Oh yeah, there's no bed, only a mat. And even that isn't comfortable," I mumbled to myself and closed my eyes. In moments I was asleep.

Makoto was walking around the maze called a castle, bored as ever.

As she was walking, she was trying to communicate with her zanpakuto, even though she knew it was pointless.

Hello, a male voice suddenly spoke in her head.

Makoto suddenly froze in her tracks. 'Who the hell said that?' she hissed in her mind.

Take a wild guess, the voice replied.

'No way...' Makoto could feel her already pale self lose even more colour. Even though she was a changeling, she was different from the others. The other changelings skin was almost black, but Makoto was paler than that. Her teeth weren't as sharp as the other's either. Plus, Makoto's own insect-like wings were more of a pale purple, instead of pale blue. 'You're my zanpakuto?!'

The one and only!

Makoto plopped herself to the ground, excited for the first time ever. 'What's your name? How come you only started talking to me now? Why can't the other changelings hear their zanpakutos? W-"

One question at a time! the zanapakuto interuppted. Sheesh. I can only take so much at once. And so can you.

'Then answer the questions.' Makoto crossed her arms grumpily, angry that her zanpakuto had interuppted her. Wasn't she supposed to be the master?!

You can't learn my name yet. You aren't ready. The reason I only started talking to you now is because only now have you bothered yourself enough to listen, and you are going to need to know my name soon. The other changelings... I can't answer why they can't hear their own.

'Will they ever be able to learn their zanpakuto's names?'

Makoto's zanpakuto stayed silent.

'Answer the question!' Still more silence. 'Fine,' Makoto huffed. 'Wait a minute... What do you mean I'm going to need to learn your name soon?!'

Her zanpakuto continued to stay silent.

'Hello? Are you there?' After a few more minutes of silence, Makoto got tired of waiting for an answer. 'Good. You're an annoying idiot anyways,' she sneered. 'I didn't want to listen to you.'

"Makoto?" a voice asked. Makoto looked up to see her mother, Queen of the Changelings, looking down at her, with a disgusted and angry expression on her face. "What on earth are you doing on the ground?"

"Mother!" Makoto quickly stood up, her excitement suddenly rising again. "You will not believe what I have to tell you!"

"Goodness, child. Spit it out already!"

"I communicated with my zanpakuto!"

There was a moment where the queen stared at Makoto in disbelief. "You better not be lying to me, Makoto. What is your zanpakuto's name?"

The excitement was quickly deflated by the changeling princess. "He wouldn't tell me. All he said was that I wasn't ready to learn his name yet, but I will need to soon."
