Chapter 5

I wake up and it's the morning of the first day of school. Boy, look how fast time flies. School is going to be rough today; especially for Jack. I get dressed and make sure Jess is getting ready to. I head downstairs and find some cereal to eat. She comes running down the stairs to tell me something.

"Chris we have to go NOW!" She said grabbing a handful of dry cereal from the box.

"Why? What's wrong?" I said with a worried expression.

"Because Tony wants US to take Tubby to school." She says bluntly, using the nickname of our cousin, Vince.

"Are you kidding me? We'll  never make it on time!" I say standing up, rushing to put my dishes away.

"Which is why we need to get him and go!" Jess said handing me my backpack.

"VINCE! LET'S GO!" I scream up the stairs and I see him wobbling down the steep stairs.

"Don't tell me what to do!" He sneers and pushes past me.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes and get in the car.

The car ride was full of Vince whining because we listened to "bad" music. We ended up turning the radio off until we got to his school.

"Bye Vinny. See ya later." Jesse turns and says to him.

"Shut up." He says grabbing his backpack.

"Brat!" I say as he slams the door.

I turn to Jess and we just laugh. We have about 15 minutes to get to school, so Jess turns up 5 Seconds of Summer, and we jam out.

We get to school, on time and I get out of the car and see Jack. He sees me and smiles brightly. I believe that's the first time I've seen him smile since before his mother's death. I run up and hug him and picks me up and spins me. Jack puts me down and I giggle.

"Finally seniors." He speaks.

"Finally seniors." I repeat.

"Sounds good." Jack says, running his fingers through his hair.

"Feels good!" Jess and I say in unison, referring to 5 Seconds of Summer's new album Sounds Good Feels Good.

"Hey Jess." Jack greets her and pulls Jesse into a hug.

I turn around to see Sara struggling to get out of her junky, old car. She finally makes it out and sees us.

"HEY GUYS!" She yells running over to our tiny group of people.

"Hey Sara." I say, giving her a hug and feeling relieved.

She greets Jack and Jess while I look for Griffin. I haven't seem him much since the beginning of summer. Just as I was about to turn around, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me.

"Hey girlie."

"Hey Griffin!" I turn around and hug him.

"I missed you!" He said pulling back.

"I missed you too!"

We turn back to the group and I see an unexpected familiar face.

"Hey, Christine, right?" The red head asked.

"Uh, Chris, actually. Hey Michael." I said standing next to Jack.

"You know him?" Jack turns to me with tension in his voice.

"Yea. I just moved in next to Chris and her and Sara brought me brownies the other day." He smirked.

"Oh." Was all Jack said.
