ERIN
"What?!" I screeched. I was nervous, I had seen it done before, the crackling of Jeremiah's bones still remained in the back of my head.
He placed a gentle hand on mine. Calming down my frantic thoughts. I nodded my head vigorously, I pictured myself looking as a mental patient, but Jayden leaned in and tried to surround me in his comforting hold. I pushed him back, hands splayed against his chest.
"Don't forget, I just met you," A look of hurt splashed across his features. They stayed there, "Don't give me that look! Why are you giving me that look?" I whined.
"I always picture my mate as one of my pack, a strong leader. We would lead together and-" I stopped him as he began to wave his hand around as if tracing a rainbow.
"To bad your gonna have to get to know me first. I'm not gonna just fall head over heals into your waiting paws."
My arm began to twitch. I looked down at it with concern. The muscles rippled under my skin, straining it, threatening to burst.
"Erin, please, we have to get outside before our bodies force us to shift fully."
We jolted into action, racing to the door. He held my hand tightly to my discomfort (despite the sparks and tingles shooting up my arm) and he expertly led me through the winding corridors. We passed a row of mahogany doors, they passed by me in a blur as my legs began to wobble. I looked down to my crumpled leggings, seeing the muscle squirming underneath. My knee twitched and I stumbled.
I hesitated to get back up, but my legs refused to function. I looked up panicked at Jayden, and he just swiftly picked me up, despite his own quaking legs.
He sprinted down the halls, bursting through a pair of double doors. Bright sunlight assaulted my eyes, and the twinkling of birds calling out rang out through the large, flat expanse the house had been built on.
The house had been built on the top of a mountain, she could see the peaks of other mountains surrounding her. Pine trees towered above their heads, swaying softly in a soft breeze that whispered it's way throughout it's branches. A large, gigantic even, spruce cabin lay regally in the clearing atop the mountain.
She peered through the trunks of the trees to see a shallow slope leading down to a valley, small cottages dotted hear and there. The expanse of forest still surrounded the house, it ran so far the valley-houses were small dots, smoke trailing into the sky.
She lost view of the houses as Jayden continued his course into the forest. His steps became less frantic as his legs gave way. He landed on his back with me to his stomach, protecting me from the probably soft, moss covered ground.
He panted heavily as his body convulsed, preparing to shift.
"Will it hurt?" She whispered softly.
"Not with me beside you." He replied in a soothing tone, grasping her hand in his. They now lay side by side, on their backs, not knowing what to do.
"How will we do this?"
"The elders told me I will hear my wolf howling, pulling me to him. If we accept it, it should be painless. We will be lost in the mind of our wolf. For the first few shifts, we will be present in the back of their mind.
As time passes, our presence will fade, letting our wolf take control, although, they can forfeit control. It's supposed to keep them safe so they can use their natural survival instincts, although we will gain more abilities as well. The elders left that for me to figure out on my own." He semi explained, semi reassured me everything should be fine.
