It was 4 in the afternoon. 2 hours until Jane made her way home from work. To Jane work was just another thing in life she had to put up with. Jane worked for W.I. short for Walker Industries, named after James Walker her boss. At work she wasn't seen as much other than an ordinary office woman; the kind of office woman who does all the paper work. Even though she couldn't stand all the other mean workers and the same old shouting boss she knew she had to stay, she had no choice.
Ever since she divorced her ex ,Brad things had been hard for Jane. She had to provide for her 3 kids Emma, Daniel and Joseph all on her own and buy all their christmas presents. That was probably the hardest thing for her, being able to afford things.Since Jane had been working non stop for hours she decided that having a little nap wouldn't hurt so soon she had her head on the desk and daydreaming turned in to a deep sleep.
"Mrs Reading" a voice said.
Ignoring the voice she thought to be in her head, Jane turned a head around away fron the noise and whispered under her breath "Go away" not knowing it was her boss stood right infront of her."MRS READING!" He shouted
Jane woke up in suprise and realised what had happened. She stared with her half open eyes at the tall man, who had white hair black large glasses and thousands of wrinkles piled up on eachother all over his face.
"And what exactly do you think your doing?" He asked rudely.
"Erm... I was just..." she hesitated looking around for an exuse.
"SLEEPING IN MY OFFICES, THATS WHAT YOU WERE DOING. I PAY YOU TO DO THE WORK AND WHAT DO I CATCH YOU DOING? NAPPING LIKE AN IDIOT!"
"I'm sorry sir please - " Jane was interrupted.
"SORRY?" He laughed "SORRY? YOU WILL BE SORRY WHEN I TELL YOU THAT I'M DECREASING YOU PAYMENT FOR THIS MONTH BY 50%!"
"You can't do that I... please, please guve me a second chance I'm sorry I promise I won't do it again." Jane hoped that her desperate acting would save her money.
"A promise isn't good enough and neither is 'sorry' so I'm afraid im going to have to put forward the action of decreasing your paymeny Mrs Reading. That should teach you a lesson."
The whole room went silent as the James Walker stormed off. 50%? What was she going to do, Emma's birthday was coming up soon and she promised her the new ZPhone 3 and she new what Emma was like.
A while after Jane got in trouble Jane saw that there was a man, a worker she'd never seen before sat opposite her desk.
He had blonde shiny hair and the blue-est blue eyes she had ever seen. He was dressed smartly in a black suit with a white shirt and a red tie. She couldn't help but stare at him as she found him quite attractive."I see you like him don't you?"
Jane jumped up just to see her best friend Cassidy stood there holding two cups of coffee. Cassidy was like a sister to Jane, they went to primary school together and secondary school."N...no no Cassy I was just wondering who he was."
"interested?" Cassidy gave Jane a little grin.
"NO! I've just never seen him before. Is he new?"
"Probably."
The new guy saw the Cassy and Jane looking which made them give a little shriek and quickly look away.
"Do you think he saw us?" Jane asked
"I think so - anyway I brought you some coffee. Thought you could use some after you fell asleep" Cassy laughed and made her way back to her desk.
Jane thought, maybe she was interested? Could he be her next boyfriend? She imagined her and this mystery person together on holiday having the perfect time alone, no kids. Just him and her.
"Jane, Jane!" Rudy came rushing with a bunch of papers all flying everywhere. His brown glasses were jumping up and down on his nose. Jane didn't respond to Rudy's call. "Er...Jane? You ok? Girl if the boss saw you now he'd fire you."
"Huh?"
"Girl, have I got a story for you!" Rudy squeeled in exitement.
"Go on."
"Ok so there's been a shooting at Neways Cross and I've been there to interview some people, I've managed to get some juicy info and I need you to attend the press conference on Monday ok?"
"Me? Are you sure?"
"Yep thanks I knew I could count on you!"
"But I didn't say yes, Rudy wait!" Before Jane could say anything he was already on his way out of the building.
The clock hit 6 so Jane packed her stuff and made her own way out.
