The Life Of Jane Reading

¤ Chapter Six ¤

After lunch Jane packed her stuff in preparation for going to the press conference. She thought that they were probably going to bring up Walkers death and link it with the investigation of the bakers death.

Jane was given some files on the information that they already have. There was a list of suspects on one of the sheets.

Jake Hall
Emma Reading.....

Jane paused. Howcome her daughter was on the list of suspects for a murder? Her daughter would never do such a thing. Or would she?

Also on the sheet it said that Juliun was suspected. No suprise there, he already killed her boss and her best friend. There's no reason why she couldn't suspect he'd kill another person. Kill another person! Jane realised that her boyfriend was a criminal. Because she loved him she wasn't going to turn him in yet so she had to make sure that he wasn't going to be doing any secret crime behind her back.

She rushed back to his office. Surprised to see her, Juliun quickly took his feet off the desk hoping that she didn't see him.

"Couldn't risist ha?" He joked. Juliun held out his hand for Jane but she ignored. Jane pretended to laugh and held on to her papers tightly. Juliun gave her a long hard stare.
"Whats wrong sweetheart? Are you sick?"

"No, no it's just that your a criminal...."

"And.....?"

"I just don't want you going around killing people you know."

"Your scared you'll get arrested for keeping quiet." He laughed loud, "Get out."

Jane left as quickly as possible.

Jane arrived at the conference. There were policemen and loads of other news companies around. It was really noisy and crowded.

Suddenly some police men came out of a door to sit on the seats at the front. They were wearing their usual green vests and helmets.

"Ok. ATTENTION PLEASE!" He yelled. "Thank you. Im Officer Kiner Noonan and these are Sargent Henry Howard and Officer Lawrence Gaiman. We may begin the conference. First question please."

Jane put her hand up and the Noonan pointed at her. Jane cleared her throat.

"What relation do the suspect of the bakers death have to the baker?"
Noonan thought for a bit.

"Well. Juliun Stanford held a grudge against Faris Jackson our victim. It is said that he always shouted at him and was very aggressive towards him. Emma Reading was dumped by Faris and there's the possible motive for Emma."
Jane noted it down on a piece of paper. Another person put there hand up. And ask what the cause of death was.

"The cause of death was beaten to death with a rolling pin. Obviously there is a good supply of those around a bakery."

Another person asked when was the suspected date for the crime? This time Gaiman answered. "Well the crime is thought to have been committed on Sunday at around 1 pm. Jane jumped, she remembered on sunday after Juliun shoved Cassidy off the cliff she saw him go to the bakery plus it was at one-ish.

Jane had enough. She rushed out of the room not looking where she was going and she bumped in to a guy in the cafe.

"Wooooaaaaah! Slow down!" He said, the man bent over to help her pick her papers.

"Oh my gosh I'm SO sorry."

"Hey it's cool." The man smiled at Jane staring in to her eyes. She stared back in to his.
"Me llamo Eduardo. What's your name."
Jane heard that little bit of spanish.

"Encantado de conocerte Eduardo. Mi nombre es Jane. Jane Reading. You know what I'm saying right?"

"Si." Eduardo's eyes met Jane's for a small moment. "Er wanna get something to eat?"
Jane couldn't say no it would be rude, so she accepted the offer. They found a table for two in the café, Eduardo pulled the chair out for Jane and they sat down together. It was awkward for a moment because they had nothing to talk about then Jane shreiked.

"What is it Jane?"

"Hide go hide now" Jane saw Juliun's car parked outside. The last time she saw it parked where she was it wasn't a coincidence. Somebody's going to die.

"What I don't understand."
Jane jumped up and grabbed Eduardo's arm. She tugged at it violently. Eduardo looked Jane in the eye. Tears were starting to pour out of them.

"I get it you don't like me."

"No its not that at all. Please its for your own safety."

She put her head on his chest.

"Please. Eduardo."

Eduardo wrapped his arms around her.

"Awwh cute." Said a voice. A voice Jane recognised perfectly well. Juliun. "Who's this you would like to tell me about?"

"I swear there's nothing going on."

"You better come home then."

"Home?"

Juliun grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the door.

"Jane!" Jane turned around. "Te amo." Eduardo just told her that he loved her. But he only just met her. Was this another fake criminal boyfriend or was this for real? She decided she'll give it a go.
