Chapter 2 ~Threatened~

I looked at Derek beside me, but he was already talking to his lab partners. I was alone. "So, we're lab partners, baby," Jordan said, sitting beside me. "Get away, you jerk," I said, pushing him. He tumbled a bit but he didn't fall, and I saw in his eyes wave of emotions that I don't understand.

"So, what's the project?" Kevin asked. Didn't Mr. Johns tell us the assignment last week? Oh wait, they both ditched.

"It's about what we can do to help the environment," I told them, scribbling the title in my notebook. "Sounds boring," Kevin said, pretending to be asleep. "But, I guess I need an A in Science, because in the last exam I got a C- for everything... except Science. An F, right there. The problem is, Mr. Johns here told my parents. Old man."

"Hey!" I said. "He's the same age as my dad!" "So?" Kevin asked.

"You're saying Mr. Johns's old, which means my dad is old."

"Oh, sorry," he said sarcastically, and I rolled my eyes as Jordan laughed. "But guys, what are we gonna do for the assignment?" I asked, and they got into thinking mode.

"I'm saying we just plant trees and stuff," Jordan said but I shook my head. "Too common. At least 5 people did that last year. And all of them got a B- for doing the same project and not putting their creativity into their work."

"Got it!" Kevin yelled, and he whispered to us the plan. "Record a video?!" I half-whispered, and the boys nodded. "C'mon, it'll be fun. I mean, we show them the polluted rivers and stuff and maybe I could shoot or someone else and show the other two cleaning the river, maybe drain? And the camera person could be the narrator."

"I'm narrator!" Jordan yelled. I shook my head. "No, I'll be the narrator. We need to show you both doing some work so Mr. Johns at least believe you guys did some work. And we could get a bonus mark."

"OK," they both sighed as the bell rang. "You've got Algebra after this, right?" Derek asked me on the way out. "Yup," I told him, as I put The Host in my bag. I've just finished reading it. Now, to get started on my Twilight series.

"I'll walk you to class," Derek said, scratching his neck. "I mean, if you want too. I have Music and the music room's not far from-"

"Kay! We need to go to the ladies room. My makeup's ruined!" Willow yelled at me as she grabbed my wrist and dragged me away before I could answer Derek."Maybe tomorrow!" I yelled and I saw him nodding before walking the other direction.

"Last period's starting, hurry up!" I yelled at Willow when we reached the ladies room. She started putting on mascara and eyeshadow, this time a pink colour instead of lavender like this morning. When the bell rang, we ran towards Algebra class and arrived when the late bell rang.

Mrs. Gale wasn't in yet. She wasn't strict, but she was old and knew how to punish a student. We were about to sit down when I realized something and walked backwards out of class. I looked around and that's when I realized something.

Music room was on the other side of the school.

"Bye, Kay! See you on Wednesday!" Willow yelled and I sighed. We decided to walk home instead of taking the bus, and her home was 3 miles from my house. It was a 10-minute journey to her house. Oh, and by the way, today's Monday.

She said that she'd either persuade her parents to let her stay home with puppy dog eyes and vomiting or if she still had to go to school, ditch.

I walked home, while reading my notebook to revise what I learned today. Could we really do a video for the Science project? I don't know. But it was creative; we could get a point for that.

I arrived home and knocked on the door. My big brother, Kyle opened it and groaned when he saw me. I stuck my tongue out at him. Kyle was like me, he had blonde hair too but his eyes were brown, like Mum's.

"Honey, are you home?!" Mum asked from the kitchen, and I yelled back, "yes, Mum!" She came out from the kitchen with flour on her apron. Mum was a baker and she baked cakes for lots of occasions. Dad was an accountant though. Tonight there was a birthday party for some 12-year-old girl named Maria at a hotel, and Mum was baking her a strawberry cake shaped like a fairy princess.

"Is the cake done?" I asked and she nodded. "I just need to get the frosting done in a few hours before her dad picks it up." I nodded and walked into the kitchen. "Dinner's going to be ready in a few hours, honey. If you're hungry, I made blondies!" Mum said, and took out a plate of blondies.

We never ate brownies in our whole lives, just blondies. Since the whole family were blonde, we've never really eaten chocolate. Just white chocolate. We only eat vanilla ice-cream and vanilla milkshakes. We still drink other stuff, but never chocolate.

Weird, I know. (Don't judge).

Anyway, I grabbed a blondie and headed back into the living room, where my brother was watching TV. "I want a blondie!" he whined when he saw me and raced into the kitchen. I rolled my eyes and walked into my room. I got under my bed and took out a pink box.

I opened it and looked inside. There was that video camera.

I had work to do.

"What happened?" I asked Willow on the bus. Actually, I was on the phone with her.

Her plan worked out. Kinda.

"I told my parents I was sick and Mum put me in bed with a lot of sheets on and put an ice pack on my head. She didn't even check my temperature."

"Talk about revenge," I said, laughing. I could hear her sarcastically laughing and then she hung up. Jeez I thought. Someone's cranky.

I got off the bus and walked towards Charlotte, who was reading one of the Princess Diaries books. "Oh, I love that book!" I said when I walked up to her. It's true, I did.

I took out the first Twilight book I bought yesterday and began to read it while walking to my locker. I was on the 13th page when I bumped into someone. "Whoa, whoa, watch it Miss I'm-So-Sorry!" I looked up and saw I ran into Jordan.

Great.

"Thankfully I don't have Science today, if not I would've-" "Hey, Kay!" I was cut off by Derek, walking towards me. He was wearing a V-neck white shirt with jeans and white Converse. "Hey," I said, ignoring Jordan.

"See you later, Miss I'm-So-Sorry!" Jordan said and walked away with Hannah Falcon, the Queen Bee. She was a meany. "Whatever, Wilson!" I yelled back and looked at Derek. "Where's Willow?" he asked.

"Pretending to be sick."

Derek laughed, "well, I know her. Ditching is her type." "Too bad her parents believed her and she has to stay in bed all day."

"Well, better be in school, right?"

Derek and I laughed and I put my backpack in my locker. I waved Derek goodbye as I walked into the Ladies room.

After I used the toilet, I walked out and saw myself in the mirror. I was wearing a long-sleeve collared denim shirt with white jeans and white short heels. I wasn't really fashionable, OK?

I went out of the Ladies room when the bell rang and I walked towards homeroom. Miss Ramon didn't come today so I decided to just read my book. Thank goodness I didn't have the same homeroom with Kevin or Jordan. I did have it with Willow, if she was here.

I sighed and closed my book. Now this was boring. "Something wrong, weirdo?" A voice said behind me and I turned around to see Hannah. "What do you want, Falcon?" I asked and glared at her.

She leaned in her chair and crossed her legs. She was wearing a purple floral sleeveless top with knee-length denim shorts with purple leathered boots. Her brown hair was tied into a high ponytail. She, was fashionable.

"So, heard you're lab partners with the 2 bad boys in school, including my boyfriend," she said, smirking. I rolled my eyes and she suddenly punched her fist on my table, glaring at me. "You better not try anything, Mason," she said. "You know what I can do."

"I don't care," I whispered to her, and she walked away towards her friends. I rolled my eyes as the bell rang. I walked out of class towards History. This day was beginning to turn bad.
