Chapter 6 ~Unexpected Guests and Chocolate Chip Cookies~

I was busy stuffing my mouth with strawberry muffins when I heard my doorbell rang. "Honey, get that please!" she yelled.

I rolled my eyes, and licked the vanilla frosting off my fingers as I opened the door.

Saying I was shocked was an understatement.

I mean, it's not everyday Kevin Quinn and Jordan Wilson come to your house. Oh and guess who else decided to tag along- Hannah Falcon. "Oh no," I mumbled. "What are you guys doing here?!" Hannah rolled her eyes and let herself in, as did Kevin and Jordan.

"I thought we'd work on our project," Kevin said, flopping himself onto the couch. He eyed my muffins and before he took one, I snatched them away. "No one can have my muffins!" I yelled, glaring at the three of them. Jordan chuckled, and turned on the TV.

"Who was at-" Mum stopped talking and looked at us. "Oh, well you've led them in. Who are they, by the way?"

"I'm Kevin Quinn, madam," Kevin said, bowing and kissing my mum's hand.

Flirt much?

Mum giggled like a school girl and I rolled my eyes.

"Mum, when's your HUSBAND going to get home?!" I said, raising an eyebrow.

She glared at me and walked off. "I hope you love butter cupcakes!" "Could you make chocolate chip cookies?" Jordan asked, walking towards the kitchen. I dropped one of the muffins from the plate.

Chocolate.

This is not going to end well.

"You... Like chocolate?" Mum asked slowly, mixing the cupcake batter.

Jordan gulped. Mum's voice was somehow threatening, I could tell. I took a deep breath and grabbed the cupcake from the floor. The frosting was on the floor now, and I threw the cupcake into the trash can.

"That's..." Mum started.

Oh no.

"Terrific!" she suddenly yelled, a big smile on her face. Excuse me?!

"I've never baked anything chocolate since Kyle and Kayla never eats it, but you do. Oh, how I've been waiting for this day!"

My jaw dropped to the floor and Kevin and Hannah laughed. Jordan just stood there chuckling.

"Oh my," Kevin said. "So, want to get started on that project?"

"We could get you guys to plant trees," I suggested, "or clean the drain."

Jordan scrunched his nose up in disgust. "No way in this world I'm doing that!" "Man, we have to, I need an A."

"Why can't she do it?"

"Bonus marks. And let's be gentlemen here."

"You guys, gentlemen?! As if!" Hannah interrupted Kevin and Jordan's little argument. I chuckled and looked at the half-empty plate of chocolate chip cookies Mum made.

They were tempting....

"Try one, Kay Kay," Jordan said, taking a cookie and shoving it into his mouth. I cringed but shook it off. "Please don't get crumbs on my bed," I mumbled.

Did I say we were in my bedroom? No? OK, well now y'know.

"Don't call me Kay Kay, it's Kayla. And only my friends call me Kay."

"Oh, we aren't our friends?! I thought we were buddies," Kevin said, faking tears and pouting.

I don't know why girls find him cute, he is just one piece of junk and the hatred I've got towards him..... Argh!!

"We were never buddies. And after this project, you can forget we even knew each other's name," I shot back, rolling my eyes.

"What's your name again?"

Kevin and Hannah burst into laughter at what Jordan said. It wasn't even funny.

Right?!

I sneaked a glance again at those chocolate chip cookies.

They looked VERY tempting....

"Just eat one, Kayla! What's your problem with chocolate?!" Hannah asked, rolling her eyes at me. I shrugged.

Kevin suddenly smirked. Out of the blue, he picked me up and he put me on his shoulder.

"Let go you moron!" I yelled, hitting his back. What was he trying to do?! "Jordan, get the cookie," Kevin said, and Jordan grabbed a cookie. It was aiming towards my mouth.

"No! I'm a blonde, I don't eat chocolate!" I yelled, covering my mouth.

"Racist much?" Jordan said, rolling his eyes.

"We're the same race, dumbo!"

"Then what am I supposed to say? Hair colourist?" Jordan asked, raising an eyebrow. Hannah chuckled at what he said and shook her head. "That's perfect!" Kevin said, and he high fived Jordan.

"Fine! I'll eat a cookie if you put me down!" I yelled, hitting Kevin's back again.

He and Jordan laughed and Kevin put me down. He got out the video camera he STOLE and was recording me just as I was about to put the cookie in my mouth. "What are you doing?!" I asked him.

"Recording the first moment you've ever tried chocolate!" he said, a big grin on his face. I tried to hide the small smile on my lips as I took a bite.

Oh.. God.

This was the best taste in the whole world!

"This... Is delicious!" I yelled, grabbing another cookie. "Why have I never eaten this before?"

"Because your a hair colourist," Jordan pointed out. "Which means you don't eat food that are the opposite of your hair colour; brunettes. And you don't date dark-haired guys too, like me and Kevin."

Kevin's eyes suddenly turned dark for some reason, but in a quarter of a second they were back to their old colour; hazel.

I decided to let it go and took another chocolate chip cookie.

Wait till I told Kyle about my latest discovery.

"You ate chocolate?!" Kyle shouted at me. I rolled my eyes at him. We were watching Glee and when I told him, Kyle looked like his eyes were going to pop out of their sockets.

Jeez, you tell your hair colourist family you ate chocolate and they suddenly get mad at you.

"W-was it...good?" Kyle asked and I nodded quickly. "It was the best treat I've ever eaten. Why are we a hair colourist family?"

Kyle looked at me confused and I shook my head. "Nothing."

Kyle shrugged and he took something out of his backpack.

Something I'd never expected.

A granola bar.
