ONE YEAR LATER..
Jeric was so excited to go home. He just bought a copy of an international magazine. Pagkadating niya ng bahay, he immediately scan through it. From his peripheral view, nakikita niya si Jeron na busy sa phone niya.
He shook his head and focused his attention in the magazine he was holding.
Capturing moments in One Shot
For the 21- year old Saabreena Chua, everything is just a matter of fate and the right timing.
“Everything is perfect for a photo, but the timing is really important,” says Saabreena.
With her photos all over the international magazine, the fine arts student remains to be humble with all her accomplishments in life.
She says that it is not really the camera that brings life to a picture, but it’s the photographer himself that gives life to every photo.
“As they say, a picture can tell us a thousand stories,” Saabreena says “but we have this connection with the photographs. I can’t really explain, but when you look at a picture, you will know that it tells a story. And there you can figure out what story it really portrays.”
As a young kid, Saabreena was restricted to play physical games or any activities that requires too much from her, due to her congenital heart disease. And so she engaged herself in learning how to play different musical instruments, painting, ballet dancing and photography. She started her photography career when she was only 15.
After an operation, she was able to do more things than what she used to do, but she never left her love in photography. At 19, she had her first ever photo exhibit in the Philippines.
“Actually, that exhibit wasn’t for me.” She recalls. “It was for Annika, my bestfriend.”
Saabreena admits that photography isn’t her first love - it’s actually filmmaking. But she grew more interest in photography when she was mentored by the well known photographers in the Philippines.
When asked if she had a special someone that really engaged her in photography, she gave me a warm smile.
“Yes.” She recalls. “There’s this one person who really inspired me to take more photos. He taught me to explore more. He taught me how to go beyond my limitations. And most importantly, he taught me to give life to every photos I take.
Ms. Saabreena Chua will be opening another photo gallery in New York by the end of October, and she says she’ll be back to the Philippines to work on her new masterpiece.
Jeric smiled as soon as he has finished reading the article. He looked back at his brother.
“What’s up bro? Kanina ka pa tulala ah.” he commented.
“Shut up.” He mumbled. “Mind your own business.”
“Alam mo namang strict si mommy sa mga ganyan.” Jeric commented, while scanning through the magazine.
“Mom would surely like her.” Jeron replied.
Binaba ni Jeric ang magazine. “Really? So finally, may ipapakilala ka na talaga?”
“Pwede.” Jeron said.
“Si Kim nga di mo pinakilala eh.” Jeric commented as I took the magazine again.
“Buti nga hindi diba?” Jeron debated.
“Kasalanan mo rin naman.” Jeric whispered, but enough for JEron to hear.
Jeron stood up and went away. Na-pikon yata.
Jeric stood up and sighed.
"If I were Jeron, I should be proud of my past. The only mistake I did before was when I agreed to hide my relationship with Annika dati." he thought to himself. "Pero ngayon, I wont hide anything to everyone. I will let the world know how much I love her - how much I love Saabreena."
