it was 2pm and i was in math class. kass was in that class, fortunately. i had no one else in that class so she was basically my only friend in all of my classes. i would sit by her at lunch but she has her own group of friends that she hangs out with. and nobody ever dares to try and hang out with them. everyone's just simply scared of them. personally, i wasn't that scared of them since i had known them for quite awhile. there were times when they could be scary though.
"kassidy? can you tell me the answer?" mr. jones asks kass who obviously didn't know the answer and wasn't paying attention. "no, i cannot tell you the answer." mr. jones scoffs and rolls his eyes at her. "you need to start paying more attention."
"who said i wasn't paying attention? just because i couldn't answer somethin doesn't mean i wasn't payin attention" kass snapped back at him. he rolls his eyes once again and goes back to teaching. most of the teachers don't bother to argue with her, and they knew dally was her older brother.
kass had her feet up on her desk, throwing her pencil up in the air and swiftly catching it each time. i was watching her intently, she didn't seem to notice whenever i stared at her. sometimes, i wondered if she stared at me, too. although it was unrealistic, it was still slightly possible.
the bell rung and everyone shot up from their seat, rushing out the door. kassidy was one of the last people in the classroom, along with me and one other guy. after she got her stuff together she walked over to me.
"hey pony." i look up at her and put my backpack on. she had a slight smile on her face, almost a smirk. "hey kass." only kassidys friends call her kass, everyone else calls her by her first name. she also won't let anyone but her friends call her kass. luckily, i'm her friend.
"i have an offer for you..." kass says trailing off, walking out into the crowded hall. i hum in response. "since you usually sit by yourself, do you wanna sit with me and my friends at lunch?" she asked. i guess she saw me sitting alone today, its probably just out of pity.
"are you sure? wouldn't wanna ruin your rep." kass looks up at me, brows furrowed. "oh cmon pony, you say that to me like i'm cherry." she laughs a bit, knowing how i felt about cherry.
"alright, i'll sit with you guys. but, are they gonna be... mean?" i asked her, worried. even though i've known them a while, they still can 'bully' me, i guess. it's only because my personality and theirs is so different. "course not. some things may slip, but i'll talk to 'em."
kass and i were heading downstairs to go to the gym. at our school, the females are allowed to do all the things guys can do now. in other schools, girls don't take p.e. since it was 1983, women's rights had gotten more attention in our city. i knew kass was happy about it because she will fight for women's rights until the end. in fact, she was the one who started the petition to have girls take p.e. in schools. everyone took her seriously too, everyone was just afraid to disagree with her because they knew she could seriously hurt them.
i was in the boys locker room getting changed into my gym clothes. i overheard some of the guys next to me talking as i slipped on my shirt.
"dude did you see her outfit today? i'd defiantly tap that." one of the three guys said to the others. "but what about her brother? dally could beat your ass up real good." the second said. it took me a second to realize that they were talking about kassidy, because who else in the school has a brother name Dally?
"but she's so hot, should i try and hook up with her?" the first guy. "nah man, you couldn't get her even if you tried" the third boy spoke. "it's worth a shot."
at this point, i was jealous."you probably should do that. last guy that tried something on her, got hospitalized because dally hurt 'em so bad." i spoke up, tying my shoes. then walking swiftly out of the room. that would make them change their minds. kassidy doesn't deserve to be talked about like that, she's a person not an object.
everyone was hanging around inside the gym, most of the guys were playing basketball. i immediately spotted kassidy leaning against the wall and talking to some of her friends. people that she won't hang out with at lunch or outside of school, just school friends. her hair was up in a high ponytail and she was wearing her usual for p.e., black shorts and a black t shirt.
kassidy's best friend, taylor walked over to them and began talking. taylor was also johnnys twin sister, and steves girlfriend. i walked up to them and leaned against the wall next to kassidy. "hey pone." i gave her a little wave before resting my head against the wall.
"kass told me that you'll be sittin with us from now on?" taylor asks me, sliding down the wall to sit down. "yeah, if that's alright with your friends..." taylor laughs, "course it's fine."
"kassidy!" shouts a voice. she looks over and immediately stops talking, walking away. i look over and see that the person who called her name was brian. he's such an asshole i don't understand why she even went out with him. she's 15 and he's 17, so he was in dallys grade. "baby come back!"
"do you not understand the phrase 'we're over?' and don't call me that." kassidy shouts at him. he seemed mad but he sure didn't show it. "we're not over til i say it's over." he grabs her by the waist, pulling her against his chest.
"get the hell off me!" kass punches his chest several times but he doesn't give up. i was about to go and do something but she kneed him in the groin. he let go of her and held onto his pelvis.she stormed back over here, fixing her hair. brian was always trying to get her back even though he was the one who broke up with her. i've hated him ever since they started dating, and i still do.
"you okay?" taylor asks as soon as she gets back. "i'm fine." she grunts in response. kassidy was never the one to tell her feelings, she just kept it all in. you could tell by her facial expressions. maybe it's just me, maybe i just pay too much attention to her. but you couldn't blame me, i mean look at her. she's beautiful, and amazing and just perfect in every way possible.
"pony?" my head immediately faces taylor, who looked confused. "you've been starin at kass for a long time..."
shit. i didn't even realize it, she probably thinks i'm weird.
I'm so bad at updating and this chapter was super boring but js there's gonna be some pretty juicy stuff between pony and Brian I'll try and update again soon:)
