The long haired boy stared at himself in his mirror, biting his bottom lip as he thought of his appearance. Was his outfit too plain? Should he wear something fancier or something sporty? Many things went through his mind as he thought about the many different possibilities of outfits he could wear, yet no outfit seemed good enough to be worn on a day like today.
His mind wandered back to the day before, where he sat in his apartment and watched movies with his neighbor. Then his neighbor suddenly said, "Jeonghannie, I have to tell you something really important tomorrow. Let's go out while doing that." Of course, Jeonghan wanted to know what his friend was talking about and what he had to say, but he felt like he needed to look good for the elder.
With a sigh, he turned around to look at his best friend, who was sitting on Jeonghan's bed while playing games on his phone. "How does this look?" he asked Joshua, looking down at his outfit once again.
His best friend looked up, scoffing as he saw his friend's outfit. "You look like a grandpa." he told him as he looked at the red sweater and khaki jeans.
With a sigh, Jeonghan walked back to his wardrobe, changing once again into another outfit. He wasn't sure about this one either; it was a white knitted sweater with long sleeves and black jeans. It was the only outfit he hadn't tried on yet. "This is so frustrating. I have nothing to wear." Jeonghan muttered, slumping down on his bed. The male felt like crying.
"Didn't you say that it isn't a date? Why make a big deal out of it?" asked Joshua.
"You don't understand it. I have to look. Have you seen his face? I can't walk around next to him, looking like trash while he looks like a Greek God. If I do, he might never ask me out." Jeonghan stated. His best friend had it easier. He wasn't interested in any girl, so he didn't know the struggle of being strangely attached to someone so much, that you don't want to disappoint them.
Joshua shrugged his shoulders, returning back to his game. "Just wear anything. He has to like you for being yourself, and not for being someone you are not." Joshua said.
It was the truth. Jeonghan couldn't pretend to be someone else around Seungcheol, but he still wanted to make him proud in some way. He wanted to show him that he was worth being with him. He knew that the boy deserved better than him, so he tried to be the best he could be.
It was crazy that he felt that way. Jeonghan always thought that he was the best, but now his opinion has changed. He couldn't help but to always think about Seungcheol. And the more he thought about him, the fewer flaws he found in him. And the fewer flaws he saw in his neighbor, the more flaws he saw in himself.
Before Jeonghan could change once again, the doorbell ringed. He turned to his friend, wide-eyed. "You need to distract him while I change." he said, looking for another top to wear under the pile of clothes on the floor.
"Just open the fucking door, Jeonghan." Joshua muttered, not wanting to pause his game since it was getting more intense.
Knowing that it made no sense to argue with Joshua about it, the long haired male made his way to the front door, opening it. He was relieved when he saw Seungcheol wearing casual clothes. "Hey," he breathed out, smiling at the older.
"Hey, Jeonghannie." Seungcheol greeted him, calling the younger by his nickname. Jeonghan adored the nickname that was given to him. It twirled off Seungcheol's tongue so swiftly, that it sounded like a beautiful melody sung for him. "Ready to go?"
