Alpha

REA POV

I was cornered. Again.
They surrounded me, circled me, snarling and glaring. I stood, my head low, to give the impression I was below them. I didn't want to make them more angry than they already are.
One of them snapped at my feet, it's jaw clenching when I dodged it's teeth. Another bared it's sharp teeth and growled.
I was on their hunting grounds. The west part of the forest that surrounded the academy. I usually didn't get caught on their turf, but today something has been off. I could feel it in the air, like I could smell that freshly killed calf, I could sense it.
Usually, I wouldn't do anything back. I would endure their beatings until they grew bored, but tonight, the she-wolf within me grew restless. It wasn't her nature to hide her dominance. Nor was it mine. But this place was not my home. These people were not my pack.
The moon was full and that made me and her even more impatient. Without meaning to, I had snarled back, letting some of my power out.
Three out of the four wolves that circled me suddenly stopped and withered away from me, letting out small whimpers as if I had physically harmed them.
One of them was unaffected by my sudden outburst. This one was above all the others. It's fur was dark and it blended in with the shadows around it. It's eyes were yellow, as were many of the wolves here. He snarled at me and bared his teeth, but he didn't intimidate me. I just lowered my head.
Next thing I knew, he had my front leg in his jaw.
I completely lost it.

"Hey Rea!" Danny came running up to me, a weird look on his face.
"Danny!" I was surprised. Danny wasn't suppose to talk to me, because I didn't belong to any of the packs.
That was just a rule.
He and I were friends since I first arrived. We went hunting together sometimes. Not lately though.
"Did you hear?" He questioned, eyeing me with his yellow eyes.
"What?" I didn't like the guessing game.
He looked around, worried that people would see him talking to me, than when he realized the hall was clear, he turned back to me and said,"Do you remember when you first arrived here? Two years ago?"
I narrowed my eye and responded hesitantly, "Yeah..."
Danny's face broke into a giant grin. "Before you arrived, a guy around the same age as you left. He happened to be the strongest male wolf blood this school had ever seen!"
"Really?" I wasn't that interested, but Danny looked so happy... I couldn't ruin his mood.
He nodded his head. "Yeah. Before, the packs were united. He was our alpha,"he chuckled, his eyes a bit distant.
I frowned, a bit confused. "So your point is...?"
"Oh! He's back!" Danny was so over joyed, it was quiet soothing. But than he frowned at me. "You can't feel it?"
"Feel what?" I began to walk toward my first class when it hit me.
At first, there was just a tingling feeling at the back of my head. Than it turned into something that made me shake. Danny whimpered and fell to his knees. I looked around and many others were also crumbling to their knees.
For some unknown reason-that is beyond me-I remained standing, a little shaken, but fine.
I heard many whispers and groans of pain, but what caught me off guard was that majority said the same thing.
"He's here."
At the end of the hall, a guy stood, staring not at the people on the ground, but at me. I was the only person standing and that seemed to amuse and irritate the guy at the same time.
This person was a head taller than me, with dark hair. To me, he looked as if he was glowing. He had a strong built, with light eyes that seemed to pierce through me, destroying my walls I tried so hard to keep up. This person needed no introduction.
He was Alpha.
