"Don Bianchi, the girl is safe."

"Good. Do you see any of his men?"

"No, sir."

"Exactly. Something's wrong."

"The son of Don Bianchi!" The smell of cigars wafted up my nose.

I stood up straight and made eye contact with the man my father wanted to kill and strip blind.

"Hello Don Rodriguez." I held my hand out for him to shake but he just smiled at me.

"I wasn't expecting to see the guy that killed one of my henchmen in public so soon. I thought you would be hiding out from me. Like a cockroach."

"My apologies, Don, but I don't hide. Especially from someone so beneath me."

"Me? Beneath you? Ha! I see you have your father's humor."

"Your man owed my family some money. He failed to deliver so we handled it since you couldn't."

He chuckled and took a step forward.

"I sure would hate for that girl that you're hiding doesn't get blown up. That bomb is meant for you."

I looked back at my man, he rushed out of the doors to go save Ellie.

I heard a huge explosion and I prayed that Ellie wasn't in the car.

"I'll leave that as a warning. Now stay out of my way." Rodriguez walked away and I rushed outside.

"She wasn't in the car when I came out here." My goon said.

I called her phone.

"You lied to me."

"Ellie I could explain."

"No. No deal. I won't go through with your stupid plan."

"Where are you?"

"That's none of your business."

"Eleanor. Please don't be difficult."

"Don't call me that. I'm hanging up."

The line went dead.

"Track her phone."

"Yes, sir."

Ellie

Out of all of the women in New York, I had to be the one that crosses paths with a Godfather.

I wasn't going to stay in his car and wait for him.

So I left.

It was like God was on my side because just when I was stepping out, a taxi pulled over and a woman got out. So I hopped in it.

"Where to?"

"Central Park."

The driver began to drive. I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes.
