Ellie
My hair looked amazing.
I was surprised that it came out looking so good and feeling so soft.
I mean the lady did take 3 hours to do it
Megan handed the James' card to the lady at the register.
"How does my hair look?' She asked me.
Her hair was no longer blonde, but brown with blonde highlights. It was cute.
"I like it. Is that your natural hair color?"
She nodded her head. I remember James telling me that her mother hated her for bleaching her hair. I wonder if she got it dyed because of her mother.
The lady handed Megan back the card and we left out of there.
We got back in Megan's car and she typed in my address on her GPS.
"How do you know where I live?"
"I wanted to know who my brother was marrying, so I did a background check."
"I swear if your parents did one on me too, I will scream."
"James did one on you too? That's not surprising."
"You guys are so intrusive."
"With our family business, we have to make sure everyone that comes in our lives aren't here to bring us our downfall. We've been doing this for years. With only few mistakes."
"You mean your father's arrest?"
"You googled us, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I was curious."
"Well, yeah. There was a kid he met on a street corner. He said it reminded him of when he was a boy and took him in. He treated him better than he did his own son. And then the little bastard sold him out to the cops."
"Oh wow. Why does your father resent James so much?"
"To be honest, I don't think he resents him. I just think that my father wishes he gave us a better life and he hates himself for dragging us into his mess at such young ages."
We arrived at my house and I got out. I heard a car door close behind and realized that Megan was coming in.
"You don't have to come in."
"But I want to."
I didn't know what to say.
When we came in the house, the sound of music and cleaning supplies instantly hit us.
"Okay, so my mama is cleaning right now. That means we need to hurry up and get out of here before she hands us both cleaning supplies."
Megan's eyes grew wide. I could tell she has never cleaned up anything a day in her life.
"Why is she cleaning so late at night?"
