"So let me get this straight," Cher questioned incredulously, "Jade walked up to you, made sure you were paying attention to her, and then deliberately spilled tea all over your Roman History paper?"
"Yep," Perrie clucked, following her four friends as they were led to their table, "and then proceeded to throw the remaining tea bag at my face. It hit me right in the forehead."
Before anyone else could respond, their host stopped in front of a table that was situated up against the window of the diner. The five friends all shuffled into their seats while the host passed out their menus. All of the girls murmured words of thanks while the host fixed them all with an inviting smile.
"All right, you guys are all set," she said, her hazel eyes sparkling warmly, "this is usually the part where I tell you who will be serving you, but you guys caught us at a weird time; a lot of the servers are getting off their lunch shifts now and the dinner servers are arriving, so I'm not too sure who will be taking care of you guys. Regardless of that though, someone will be with you guys shortly to take your orders. Enjoy your meal!"
With those words, the host walked away from their table and headed towards the back of the restaurant instead of the front; her shift had probably just ended as well. Aside from two old men sitting at the bar talking to someone who appeared to be one of the cooks, there was no one else occupying the other tables in the diner, which wasn't too much of a surprise considering it was three thirty in the afternoon.
The five friends had chapter for their sorority tonight, and typically on the nights where they were required to be at their sorority house, the girls would simply arrive early and eat dinner there. Earlier in the day though, Ally had talked to Demi and had learned that dinner for the night would consist of some sort of vegan meatloaf dish. When Ally had shared her discovery with her friends, they had all gagged simultaneously and decided that they'd rather go out somewhere for dinner.
Since Cher was rather hot headed and impatient at times, the other four friends knew the best course of action would be to avoid the long waits associated with the dinner rush. After some discussing, all five friends had agreed upon 'dinner' at three at the sports bar down the street from the quad. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the sports bar, the five girls had been met with a line of people stretching out the door; the girls had completely forgotten to take happy hour into account.
At the time of the discovery of the long wait, Jesy had been on the phone with her boyfriend, and Cher had been having a diva moment, which was something only Ally was capable of handling. That had left Perrie and Katherine with the responsibility of finding somewhere else to eat. While Perrie was searching up reviews of nearby places on her phone, Katherine had quickly scanned the area nearby. Since they were on what would be considered the main street of campus, many restaurants and bars lined the street.
A quaint looking diner on the far corner had caught Katherine's attention, and she had tugged excitedly at Perrie's arm to gain her attention. Once Perrie's gaze had lifted from her phone screen, Katherine had eagerly pointed at the small restaurant with hope in her eyes. They needed to find somewhere fast considering the volume of Cher's voice was gradually increasing and Jesy was screaming at the girl to pipe down so that she could hear what Jake was saying through the phone.
Protests loud enough to drown out Jesy's angry pleas were soon heard when Perrie's eyes had settled on where Katherine had been pointing to. Of course Katherine had selected the very diner at which Jade works. Katherine had practically begged Perrie to agree to her suggestion, proposing that all four of the girls would have her back if Jade was currently working so that nothing terrible would happen if they chose to eat there.
