Call of the Night

Prologue

A long time ago the god's in heaven decided to end the land of man because of their unlawful desire of fortune, glory and power. The gods sent their guardians to bring the sin into extinction. Many suffered and no one is spared when caught. Humans cried in despair as they watch their faith come to an end. At the same time the Demon King (Zhong Kui) or was also known for ruling the underworld was awoken by the screams of souls, pouring his realm.

"Sire, the number of souls just wont stop coming. If this continues we're not sure if we can keep all of them. I'm afraid we'll have to let some go. Our workers has not taken their morning and afternoon break because of all the ruckus. Please tell me what do we do?" says his nightshift attendant.

And so King Zhong Kui did not have a choice. He went to heaven and challenge the heavenly court to Xiang-chi (Chinese Chess). The gods agreed saying that if he loose the underworld will also belong to the heavens but if he won the humans may remain and he can even rule over them. Like a thundering cloud the fight commence, every losses of the gods bring different seasons to the land of man such as summer, fall, winter and spring. After years of battle in Xiang-chi finally the winner was proclaimed. It was King Zhong Kui

King Zhong Kui then rule over the land of man and the underworld. It was wonderful. The seasons kept the land of man well taken care of and the underworld was lay low. There is also news that one of his human concubines will soon give birth to a son. He was over joyed so he named his son Tai Rong, meaning great and glorious.

But the king soon regret his joy because during the celebration a group of demons rebellions was against him. The leader of the resistance was Gai Zhen. Gai Zhen was a ferocious Yaoguai (spirit demon). He was against union between man and demons so he threaten to take over the throne.

The two compatible leaders, King Zhong Kui and Gai Zhen fought with might. Unfortunately  Gai Zhen lost but before the darkness could take over his vision he swear vengeance against the king.

"I, Gai Zhen will rise once more. And when I do, the bloodline that you are most proud of will end like the setting sun."

The two realm lived in unity once more. That is until the king has reached the end of his days. The first prince of the underworld took over the throne and ruled both realm. The new king did not approve of giving the mortals the same treatment as the demons so he command that the humans must serve the demons with free warranty. Being a half human brought Little Tai Rong misfortune and abandonment, killing his dear human mother in the process.

Years passed though Prince Tai Rong rose to the throne, he posses his fathers defiant wits. He killed his King brother as payment for his mothers death and drove his  older brothers who mistreated him away.

King Tai Rong was named Demon Knight by the humans as a small gratitude. But the King Demon Knight had different expectation in mind otherwise. King Tai Rong massacred every man, women, old, and child who lived in his palace but spare those who is willing to cut their ties with the outsiders. Be it human or devils. In his eyes everyone is foolish and not trustworthy. Both humans and demons feared him and would not even dare breath the same wind.

King Tai Rong ruled both realm with a frightful aura. No one could beat nor defy him.
