Colin didn't think it was possible to make a singing candle hot. But Matt completely blew him away.
Colin was standing in the door at the back of the gym. He knew that Matt would still come to auditions, regardless of what he said and he knew that that would be a priceless performance.
Now the thing is, Colin wasn't telling Matt that theatre was for losers. Colin just didn't want Matt to get made fun of. At his old school he got teased about loving musicals, and he didn't want Matt to share the same fate.
But judging by the auditions so far, the people at this school are incapable of judgment.
All the girls swooned. They whispered to each other. Colin heard a few things such as "he is so hot!" "Do you think he's single?" And "Oh my God, we would make the cutest couple!" Ha, Colin thought. Good luck with that, ladies.
As Matt bowed everyone clapped and cheered.
"Alright, any last minute sign ups?" The music teacher shouted.
"Me!" Colin's mouth decided to scream against his will. What? Stupid mouth!
Everyone turned to the back of the gym and stared at Colin. "I... I'd like to audition." He said.
Matt walked in and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Colin.
"Do you know any Disney songs?" The drama teacher asked.
"Umm..." Colin thought. "I know... A Whole New World?"
"Sure." The teacher said.
Matt stared as Colin jumped onto the stage.
"Can I borrow someone for the other part? Anyone at all?"
"I'll jump in," Matt volunteered with a smug look on his face.
Colin walked to the edge of the stage and held out a hand to Matt. "Do you trust me?"
Matt rolled his eyes and stood up, taking his hand. "You're such a dork."
"Yeah but so are you," Colin said, pulling Matt onto the stage. "Music, please!"
He wrapped his arm around Matt, making him blush. "I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid. Tell me prince, now when did you last let your heart decide? I can open your eyes, take you wonder by wonder. Over, sideways and under, on a magic carpet ride. A whole new world! A new fantastic point of view. No one to tell us no, or where to go, or say we're only dreaming."
"A whole new world," Matt sang, totally red in the face. "A dazzling place I never knew. But when I'm way up here it's crystal clear that now I'm in a whole new world with you. Unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling. Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling through an endless diamond sky."
"A whole new world- Don't you dare close your eyes-A hundred thousand things to see- hold your breath it gets better."
"I'm like a shooting star," they sang together as the audience cheered. "I've come so far."
"I can't go back to where I used to be-A whole new world."
The two of them stared at each other for a minute. Colin noticed that Matt was taller than him, which was hot. Matt looked at how short Colin was, which was cute. Colin could just...
"I'm not gonna kiss a straight guy for the sake of a school play." Matt whispered.
"Yeah, well if you kissed me you wouldn't be kissing a straight guy." Colin said.
Matt blushed. "Then maybe you should meet me outside after this is over."
"Maybe I will." Colin whispered before turning back to the audience. "So um, yeah..." And he jumped of the stage.
"What role should I mark you down for?" The music teacher asked.
"Hmm... I always did like Cogsworth." Colin said.
"Great," The music teacher said. "Okay, that wraps this up. Cast will be posted outside the office on Friday."
