Part 9
August
I walked into the kitchen looking at her as she was looking at our daughter. I cleared my throat and they both looked at me.
August: Can we talk? Please.
Jayden: August its been a long day. I need to get Ammerie ( GCO )
August: Jayden please. I need to get this shit off of my chest!
They both jumped at my voice. I rubbed the back of my neck. Ammerie ate her the last of her food.
Ammerie: Daddy I'm tired.
August: Come on baby. I'll take you upstairs.
She walked to me and I picked her up. I gave her a bath and put her in some pjs. I laid her on the bed in the guest room and turned on a movie. I walked back downstairs to see Jayden thinking.
August: How did you figure everything out?
Jayden: How do ya think? Michael told me. How could you keep this from me?
August: I wanted to make you fall for me again until I found a way to explain it. I NEVER tried to kill you baby. It was an accident.
I sat down looking at my hands. I sighed building up the courage to explain the whole situation.
August: The first incident wasn't on purpose. We were fighting because you've been distant from me. I tried a date night and it wasn't going well. I ran a red light and bam. The truck his your side. It wasn't planned or anything. Everyone thinks it was! Just because I wasn't hurt as bad as you.
Jayden: .....and the second... incident
August: I didn't know you were home. You said you had classes and was out for the night. Also Ammerie was with my mom. So when I got home, I heard movement.... and ....
Jayden: Grabbed the kitchen knife. Stabbed right though Ammerie and me.
August: It was for protection ! I didn't know you were home baby, you have to believe me!!!
She just stayed quiet. I looked up at her like she was crazy. Jayden didn't believe me!
August: You've got to be fucking kidding me. I love you and that little girl to death! I WON YOUR HEART 3 TIMES! I RISKED BEING KILLED AT THAT MENTAL HOSPITAL 2 TIMES TO GET YOU BACK! I JUST FINALLY GOT MY BABY GIRL BACK THAT I HAVE BEEN HURTING OVER! YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE GOING THROUGH SHIT MAN!
Jayden: Stop yelling August. Ammerie is asleep upstairs.
August: The only thing you have to tell me is to be quiet?! I explained myself, poured my heart out to you. It wouldn't be this way if Michael didn't get in the fucking picture!
Jayden stood up and grabbed her cell phone. She went to walk out, but I grabbed her. I pinned her against the wall.
August: If you love him so damn much Jayden, why don't you go to him?! Give me my fucking ring back and leave. I'm done fighting for you.
I let her go and she sat her phone back down. She grabbed a hair tie and walked out. I sighed sitting down. Was it me? Am I not fighting hard enough to stay free? Maybe I did belong in a mental hospital.
August: I always find a way to fuck everything up.
I sighed.

I fluffed my hair and looked at myself in the mirror. I heard his footsteps slowly approach the guest room Ammerie was in. I tied my robe and walked across the hall.
