Luna's pov

My head pounded as my thoughts began to clear. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings. I slowly shifted my body to face the left. Wooden floorboards creaked under me and I cringed from the noise.
where the fuck was I?
Where was Carl?

Carl. That beast of a boy had done this. I wasn't angry. I wasn't upset either. The walls around me were wooden and old. A creak from my right side panicked me. Pain shot through my head as I quickly turned to face. The moon was high in the sky, so all I saw was the silhouette of the figure standing before me.

I panicked before seeing the familiar outline of the sheriffs hat placed upon the boys head.
It was only Carl.
"Hey Luna." He whispered hoarsely. I didn't reply. He went to move a step closer, but I inched back.
"Stop." My voice was only above a whisper. Although it was dark, Carl's blue irises were visible. They immediately swept with guilt.

"Luna I'm sorry." His voice was horse. "Sometimes my demons take over."
He spoke quietly, but his words played loud in my head. "We all have our own demons." I replied solemnly. Carl's head was down, but he raised one blue iris at me. I slowly sat up. "Come here." I said.

A/N- CUNA SHIP MOMENT IS COMING. SOS THIS ISNT A DRILL.

Carl cautiously made his way over to the floor where I laid. I scooted over as he sat on the floor.
"We barely know each other." He said. "So then let's talk." I said.

"We stayed at this prison for a while. It was good. Everything was...good. A-and then the governor came and he ruined it. He tore down our fences and our walls and he separated my whole group. He killed my little sister. I was with my father for a little while. Then we got separated."

He paused for a moment, staring at the ground. He smirked. "And then I met you. I met this girl. I don't know if you know her or
not. But her name is Luna. She's strange. She's sarcastic. She never answers a question straight on and she doesn't talk about her past. And well, tonight I'm hoping to break down some of her tightly built walls and get her to tell me something."

He looked up, expecting a story. (image above)
"I was with my mom. Her name was Dawn. My father always used to say that she was the beginning of the day and I was the end, and that those were his favorite parts of the day. My mom was a police officer. She was at this hospital the day it all started. She made this fucked up system. She would find survivors, injure them, and then use our medical supplies to heal them. When they would wake up my
mother would put this idea in their head that they owed us. My mom never paid attention to me. My demons took over. And I did this.

I rolled up my sleeve, revealing the hundreds of self harm scars. Carl looked upset. He gently grabbed my arm and caressed the scars.
"Please don't do this anymore" He whispered hoarsely. I nodded, pulling my sleeve down.

"I couldn't take it anymore. I ran away. I never looked back. I was with my sister for a little while. She was 6. 6 years old. I wake up one day and she's gone. I don't know if she's dead or alive but I know that she's better off without me. I-I was with my brother too. He went insane. He lost it! I didn't mean to it just happened! H-he came at me and I had to do it."

I shakily looked up from my lap and turned to him. "I didn't mean it." I whispered. I completely broke down. I began to sob. Carl wrapped his arms securely around my waist as I threw my arms around his neck. My body jolted with electricity at his touch. My demons silenced and it felt like the weight off my shoulders were lifted.

I snuggled into his chest, sniffling. "Let's get some sleep okay? We will get back on the road tomorrow." I nodded. He went to get off the floor but I grabbed his arm. "Please...stay."

I hated this. I sounded weak and needy. He nodded and laid back on the floor with me as we drifted to sleep. As I fell asleep I couldn't help but feel as though when Carl was with me, my demons were silenced.
