~ Eren's POV ~
This wasn't going to work. It's been a full month. Armin and I can hardly communicate. For the past few days I've isolated myself in my messy room, only coming out when Mikasa makes me.

One day I was watching re-runs of Will & Grace when my phone lit up. Lazily, I reached over to where my phone was laying and saw it was a text from Jean.

From: Jean
Received: 2:43 PM
Hey come over to my place ASAP!

I thought of my options. 1: stay here and continue to watch tv. 2: go to Jeans place. Or 3: go get a doughnut. As I pondered, the choice was clear when Mikasa yelled at me from downstairs.

"Eren! Jean just called! Get your ass up and to his house now!"

Rolling my eyes I got up and trudged over to my closet. After finding a decent outfit I ran downstairs only stopping once when Mikasa tried and failed to tame my crazy bed-head.

"Just come in man! You've known me long enough to know I really don't care about people knocking!" I heard Jean yell from inside his apartment.

'Sorry I forgot.' I signed to Jean when I walked into his kitchen, where he was rummaging through his refrigerator.

He let out a loud laugh and ruffled my already way-too-crazy hair. With a small smile on my lips I wiggled away, covering my face with my hands.

"Aww what a cutie!" Jean gushed with fake enthusiasm.

And then there was a new voice. "Um... What's going on?" I knew that voice. It was so angelic, beautiful, super cute. Armin was sitting on the couch in Jeans living room.

I didn't realise I was staring until Jean smirked and winked at me. Heat rose to my cheeks as I shook my head, for once grateful that Armin couldn't see. But that didn't stop Jean from going up to Armin and whispering something in his ear.

Armin's face turned even more red than mine and he laughed nervously. After fidgeting uncomfortably for a few seconds, Armin cleared his throat and said, "Uh... Hi Eren."

I didn't know how to say anything back. And that's what frustrated me the most. There was no way I could answer any of his questions. There was no way I could tell him what I thought about him. There was we could express ourselves to each other, and it killed me. It killed me to think that I would love this beautiful person but never be able to talk to him. It killed me to think that all of this was for nothing, and that he would just give up.

"Eren... Are you okay?" Jean asked, concern filling his eyes.

Why is he asking me this? I thought. But then I realised there were tears running down my face.

"Eren? Eren what's wrong?" Armin's voice sounded.

I shook my head. I can't do this. Taking in a quivering breath I turned to Jean and signed 'I can't do this.' Before I ran. I ran for my life, away from the person I cared most about in this world- Armin.

After what seemed like hours of running, I stopped at a park, hot tears still streaming down my face. Not caring to stop the flow of tears, I trudged over to a park bench, plopping down and letting the tears fall freely from my eyes.

I didn't notice the kid until he spoke. "Why are you crying?" A small, squeaky voice sounded next to me. I jumped. When did he get there? Chocolate eyes looked up at me, blinking every few seconds. "Are you sad?" The boy asked again.

Realising my defeat I nodded my head sheepishly.

"It's okay. We all cry sometimes!" The boy said again. He had a lisp every time he said a word with the letter s. How cute. I nodded in response. And the boy continued to question me.

"Can you talk?"

I shook my head, answering his question with an understood 'no'.

"Why are you sad? Did you fall when you were playing?

I shook my head again, smiling when he asked his question.

He gasped and beamed "Was it about a girl?" He must've had an older brother or sister.

No again.

"Was it about a boy?"

My heart almost stopped. More tears leaked out of my eyes. Nodding slowly I saw the boy smile.

"Don't worry! You're pretty!" He said happily before stating, "I'm going to go play some more. Okay?" And after I nodded a 'yes' he hopped up from the bench and continued to play.

After about five minutes I got up. Thank you. I thought before I turned and walked off. But, not before I caught a glance at the boy waving at me. Smiling,I turned and waved back, before heading off. This time, with determination.
