Tara's POV

I'm sat right here, across the damn dinner table from him.

It's the closest I've ever been to him and that's something I've wanted for a long time.

A very very long time.

Now you see why I was so excited about going for dinner with mum and "friends" I should elaborate a little right?

Well, surely you've noticed my mum and Mrs Hood are good friends by now. Hence why we're at this family dinner thing.

That's because we're neighbors. We always have been and well, when me and Calum were little, I'd say around seven or eight; we were best friends.

But when we were eleven or twelve, I can't remember exactly when because I don't like to think about it too much, he drifted away from me and became friends with Luke or 'hemhem' as Calum calls him.

I wasn't angry, just a little upset because I obviously wasn't intriguing enough to be his friend and Luke's a good guy, in fact we're friends on some sort of level and we're partners in math and AP physics.

But I couldn't be bitter about Calum drifting away because I had a crush on him.

Anyway, it was then I befriended Michael. The new guy and we soon became good friends. He stuck by me throughout school and then we dated.

Until he, well he moved on too. Nothing on either of our parts and the gossip at school made it out to be ten times worse than it really was, we're still very much good friends actually.

But here I am with Calum, 9 years after it all went wrong and I'm still as crazy about him as I was when we were little. Even though I can feel his gaze burning into my head from across the table.

So I pulled out my phone.
