Later that day, mum dragged me to the hospital.
I'd get some answers there.
Did some tests.

"Your mother's right. Schizoaffective disorder."

Even the doctors were sure, yet I wasn't. Everything had to exist.

It just had to.

No. I was still pregnant. Still engaged. Still with Luke.

I was at home when the phone rang.

"Jaimie, help me."

A voice full of horror and despair was on the other end of the phone.

"Luke?"

"Help!"

"What's wrong?"

"I can't do this anymore Jaimie I need your help..."

The line went dead. And eery silence surrounded me.

I ran to the door but was stopped by a small, innocent figure.

"J. Where are you going?"

Her eyes blue and regretful.

"To help Luke."

Her eyes focused on me.

"J, he's not real."

"Not you as well Maddie!!!"

"J. Please stop pretending. None of this is real."

Her voice filled with desperation.
I pushed aside her and stepped through the door. Her face sorrowful.

I drove to Luke's and was shocked to find what confronted me.

A bronzed rope was tied to an oak tree- drifting in the wind. Luke leaned against the tree, swaying the rope between his palms.

"Luke!"

He didn't move. Not even look.

I ambled towards him. Hearing leaves crunch under my feet.

"It's over J. I can't live in a world where people fill my head with lies. I can't live when people are saying none of this is real."

"Luke...don't do anything stupid..."
I took his hand and placed it into mine. Our fingers wrapped.
"...without me."

He looked into my eyes and nodded.

"Follow me. "

We were going to make this real.
