Chapter 28

"We have an update in the rescue of previously missing Detective Olivia Benson of the NYPD."

A candid picture of Olivia exiting the house is presented on the screen behind the news anchor.

"Lizette Huff is on location at Univeristy Hospital Centre in Zagreb where Detective Olivia Benson and several others were taken in for medical care."

"Thank you Marina, and I'm here at the University Hospital Centre here in Zagreb. The seven women were taken from the house and then sent here for observation. The rescued women include Olivia Benson, Rika Bergstedt of Sweden, Vedrana Pavlovic of Croatia, Valentina Egorov of Russia, Laure Rossini of Italy, and Kerianne Hennigan of Ireland."

The news reporter speaks clearly in an English accent as she reads off a paper with the names.

"Thank you, and we will have more to come on this breaking story."

"We placed her in her own room, it's alright for visitors now, we made sure to do a full exam. She allowed us to do a rape kit, but she was a bit out of it so I don't think she's too phased yet, just tread lightly."

"Thank you doctor." Martindale responds

Each member of the squad had made a visit to the other girl's rooms. They made sure they were okay and wanted to check up on them. The squad met up again after Martindale had been informed by a doctor about Olivia's condition.

"You guys go in ." Martindale says with a certainty in his voice

He doesn't want to spook Olivia yet, he thinks he should go first but she wants her to take in the squad first and not anticipate the squads arrival while he's in there with her. The squad is hesitant at first but Cragen steps forward, as well as Munch. The two guide the rest of the squad down the hallway, towards Olivia's room.

Tension is building up between the detectives, all their thoughts tangling up. They reach the closed door and Cragen puts his hand on the knob, and then looks at the squad with a nod. The force of his hand opens the door slightly, where Cragen peeks inside. The hospital bed is littered with blankets but isn't occupied. Then he sees Olivia sitting on a chair that's located facing the only window in the room. She has the wool blanket wrapped around her while she stares endlessly at the brightening sky.

Before he says anything, she turns her head and looks at him, standing from the chair. Olivia clutches the blanket like it's her lifeline.

"Can we come in?" Cragen asks, wary of her possible reaction

He's never had to be cautious of her until now. He knows she's the type to say she's fine when she really isn't. She just stares at him for a few seconds until she snaps out of her thoughts.

"Yeah, course." She says, trying to play it causal like the old times.

Cragen pushes the door wider, where he steps into the doorway, and Munch follows. Rollins, Amaro, and Fin stand outside the doorway, into the hallway, staring inside. Olivia gives off a slight smirk with a small laughter to it while she stares at her squad. Inside she knows that they're afraid to spook her, but she knows how to play it.

"You guys can come in you know, I'm not contagious."

They step inside, filling the room. The door closes behind them and leaves a silence. Fin looks at her, seeping into her thoughts. He is the one who knows about Sealview, he's the one that knows her inner secrets, but not all of them, just enough to know who she really is. Amaro looks at her with watering eyes, and Rollins looks at her with a are you okay kind of look.
