Skinny Love { A Zalfie Fanfic }

Alfie

The music was loud in the venue where the party was. It was dark and there were already a lot of people there. Much to the complaint of Zoe, we were late. It was fine though, no one even noticed. 

I got out of the cab and held the door to the venue open for Zoe. "Why thank Alfred," she said with a smile. She had an amazing smile. It melted my heart whenever I saw it. Thank goodness Zoe was always smiling. 

I walked in behind everyone else and looked around the dim room, looking to see if there was anyone else I knew. The only people I could really recognise right away were Tanya and Jim. I didn't even know them all that well. 

Zoe and Louise knew everyone though, most of the people at this party were beauty gurus and they were already chatting with about five other girls when I spotted them. I walked over to Marcus and Joe who were getting drinks. "Let's mingle," Marcus said with a grin and a wink. 

Marcus was the only person, other than my sister, who knew that I had feelings for Zoe. I knew he wouldn't tell anyone ever, but it did make things a bit awkward sometimes. I stared out of the window, looking at all of the pretty lights, my mind now totally shifted towards Zoe. 

"Are you coming mate?" Joe asked. 

"What? Oh ya," said slowly coming back to reality. I really needed to work on not spacing out as much. 

I followed Joe and Marcus into the heart of the party.

I had met so many amazing people but I hadn't really seen the only person I wanted to all that much. Zoe. She was off with Louise somewhere and I had no idea where that somewhere might be. 

Just then the song shifted to quite an upbeat one and Joe started dancing. Marcus started to dance as well. I was just going to excuse myself and sit down, try to find Zoe when I heard her laugh. Her and Louise were dancing too. 

Well obviously I started dancing too, what else was I going to do? Stand there like a loner? That was just not an option. Zoe grabbed my hand I spun her around and we all danced the rest of the party.

Joe and Marcus were drunk. That was pretty obvious to Zoe, Louise and I on the cab ride back to the hotel. I hadn't had any alcohol that night though. I had wanted to see Zoe with my brain functioning normally. And, I was scared I might do something stupid like kiss or something. That would have been bad. 

Zoe led us all back inside. I said goodbye to the girls as they took the stairs up to their room and Marcus, Joe and I went to our room. I was too tired to change into anything comfortable to sleep in so I just crawled under the covers of my bed with my suit still on. I was asleep in seconds.
