1. Content
This club accepts ALL TYPES of books. This includes mature content, LGBT, and fanfiction. No book will be rejected because every book is a writer's labor of love. To that end, every member should be comfortable reading every genre of work.
2. Weekly Assignment
There is a weekly assignment, to be posted on Sunday. The assignment will have two parts: Featured Books and Pairs. The assignment is due on the next Sunday.
A. Featured Books
Every week, two members' books will be featured. You will need to read one chapter of each book, and leave a meaningful comment (at least 2 lines). The featured books will be pulled from a seniority-based queue. Once the books have been featured, they will be added back to the end of the queue. So if you stay active in the club, your book will be featured again and again.
B. Pairs
Every week, you will get a partner. You are required to read three chapters of your partners' book, and leave a meaningful comment on each chapter (at least 3 lines).
In summary: every week, you will read and comment on five chapters (two from featured books, and three from your pair). In return, you will be guaranteed three reads on your book, and many more when your book is featured.
3. But wait, there is more
If you are an early bird who completes the assginment way before the Sunday deadline, then you are eligible to get more reads! See the chapter "Early Bird Special" for details. Basically, if you finish the assginment by Tuesday evening, then you can get a new partner (reading of two chapters is required instead of three). And if you finish this extra assignment early as well, you can get a third partner.
4. Penalty
You have one week to complete the assignment. If you don't do it on time, and don't ask for an extension, then you will be removed from club roster.
Previously, I had a strike system in place, but it seemed that people who get strikes don't make up for their missed assignment anyway. So now, there are no more strikes. If you miss an assignment, you are out.
