The smell of rotting flesh and decay hit me like a tidal wave. The smell was overwhelming. I stepped through the doorway and used my jumper to cover my nose to try and block out the awful smell. I stepped forward and the floorboard beneath my foot creaked. My heart stopped as I listened hard for any sounds of movement from the house. I waited two minutes before I moved again, and after that I was so sure that someone was going to jump out at me with a gun or something like that. Looking back on it now, I'm not sure why I was so surprised. In my peripheral vision I saw something crimson. I looked closer and saw it was a small puddle of blood. There was a whole trail of it...leading to what I assumed was the kitchen.

I stumbled forward into the kitchen door and it opened onto a dark room. I could see that the curtains were shut but I was too scared by what I could find if I moved into the room blindly. I felt around on the wall for the light switch. After a couple of seconds I found it and flipped the switch. Nothing. Of course there wasn't, this house had been abandoned for a long while. Obviously, no one was going to pay the electricity bill. I pulled out my phone from my back pocket and turned on the flash light to illuminate the room. Seeing that there was nothing in the room immediately in front of me I decided to enter.

The smell got worse and also there was a lot more blood splattered around the room at random intervals. I kept walking until there was a corner. I turned round it and the room suddenly got lighter from the glass back doors that weren't covered by curtains. On the kitchen counter, I found the source of the smell and blood. A huge, mouldy leg of lamb lay on the counter, surrounded by blood. I wasn't 100% sure who left it and why...or if those questions were even important. There was a large meat cleaver left beside it but oddly that had no blood on it. Suddenly, I heard a crash. Someone, I didn't see who because I was running, but someone had just shot at me. I was sure of that. The only things I wasn't sure about was who...and why?

Sorry this is so short and I haven't really uploaded in a while but I was thinking that I would update the story maybe twice a week? Maybe more if you want to? What do you think happened to the family who lived there? I would love to know your ideas and opinions so please comment and vote:)
