Gabby hopped in my truck, an old 1992 Ford F150. "Hey!" She chimed. "Hi," I said, eyes super glued to my phone. I was parked outside of her house in her neighborhood that was near mine. Her neighborhood was close to the mountains and hiking trails, where mine was near the Bay of Poulsbo. The weather was rainy today, of course. Washington, you know? However, on the weather channel, it said that there was going to be a snow and rain mix later on tonight. The weather had to be below 10 degrees because the water on the road from the previous rainy day had already started to freeze up. I feel like every day that I wake up it is either rain or clouds... or snow. It's currently the month of December and I moved here in early October, so that means I have lived here for three months now. I have started to warm up to the place a little, but I still miss my old home. Anyway.

I promised Gabby that we'd go shopping today because she didn't have any snow boots. Also, another reason why I had even bothered getting out of bed, is because mom wanted me to pick up several things from the Farmer's market. "So! Where to first?" Gabby asked. "Grocery store. I have to get some food for dinner." I said. "Cool. But just drive slow, okay? There's ice on the road." She warned. "I am aware of that." I murmured. I tossed my phone in the cup holder and put the car in drive.

"Can you turn the heat up?" Gabby asked. I cranked the air up a couple of notches and turned the air vents in her direction. I put my car and drive and lifted my foot off the gas. The car rolled forward automatically. I drove at least 10 mph through her neighborhood and when I got on the main road I drove about 15 mph. Since there were ice and snow on the ground, the steering wheel became slightly harder to control. I did need Gabby's help finding my way to the grocery store because I hardly ever go into town.

I parallel parked in front of the Farmer's market and turned off the car. Gabby and I got out of my cozy truck and walked into the store. The fluorescent lights bounced off the walls and floors. "What are we getting?" Gabby asked. "Maybe some steaks?" I guessed. She shrugged. I went into the back of the store and pulled out two Chuck steaks. "Okay. I think that's all I need." I decided. We walked to the checkout center and purchased the items. After that, we were back in the car. "Hey, can we go to the shoe store?" She asked.

"I guess... where is it?" I asked. "It's right around the corner," Gabby said. I nodded and started to drive again. I drove down the street and took a right, then a left. Gabby pointed down the road, "There!" She said. I pulled into a parking space in front of the store. I turned off the car again and stepped into the cold outside air. Gabby walked into the store first and I walked in after her. "Hi, how are you ladies doing today?" A petite brunette, about 45 years old asked. "Good, thank you," I replied. "Need help finding anything?"

"No thanks, we're just looking." Gabby smiled.

"Alright, let me know if you need any help."

Gabby went to the shoe section of the store. "Boots...boots...boots." She mumbled to herself as she looked. "Hey, look at those!" Gabby pointed to a pair of navy blue snow boots sitting on a low shelf. "Cute." I said. "These would go perfectly with my blue coat, don't you think?" She smiled and tugged on her coat. "Yeah, what's your size?" I asked. "Uh... I think I'm an 8 1/2." She guessed. I started to look at the shoe boxes to see the exact style of the shoes. I found what I was searching for and came across a tall stack of shoe boxes embedded in a whole wall of shoe boxes. "Up there."

Gabby pointed at the top of the wall. It was high above our heads, about 7 ft, and I was only 5"5. I jumped as high as I could and my hand came nowhere near the box. "I can't reach it." I grumbled after a few attempts. Gabby tried reaching it next, but Gabby was shorter than me, so she had no luck. "Okay, we're both vertically challenged. I'll go get someone to help us." I said. As I started to walk away, Gabby grabbed my arm and pulled me back. She fake sighed, "If only we knew someone who had telekinesis..." She started. Gabby released me. I folded my arms, "What are you trying to say?" I asked. "In times like these is when we use our powers, Alaina." I look at her in disbelief, "You can't be serious." I said.
