The Intelligence unit was unable to locate Marco Santos. However, with the help of Brooke's identification, they were able to arrest George Hernandez. Upon raiding his home, a murder weapon was found. This sealed the deal, allowing them to move forward with going to trial. The unit would continue their search for Santos, however, he was a hard man to find. It could take weeks. Months. Maybe even years before they found evidence to put him away.

The trial for George Hernandez, however, was today. The thought of having to sit on that stand was extremely nerve wrecking for Brooke. Shy wasn't a trait that Brooke considered herself to have but the idea of speaking in front of not only the man who killed Carter, but also an entire courtroom... that was anxiety inducing.

Brooke found herself standing in front of the court house, trying to work up the courage to go inside. She debated her options. Theoretically, she could just turn around and go home, avoiding this all together. The cops probably had enough evidence without her. They didn't really need her, did they?

"Having second thoughts?" A familiar voice asked from behind. The dark haired woman turned around to face them. It was Jay. Of course it was Jay. Now she would have no choice but to go through with this.

"Is it bad if I say yes?" Brooke answered honestly, a guilty smile forming on her lips. Her fingers played with the strap of her purse anxiously.

"No," Jay replied to her surprise. "Being up on the stand is stressful enough but to have to look a murderer in the face and tell the world what he did... that takes guts. It's not easy but I know you can do it. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for."

"Thank you," Brooke said, smiling at the sincerity in his words. It was like he always knew the right thing to say. Why he was so nice to her, Brooke wasn't sure, but she knew she didn't deserve it. Noticing that he was clad in a suit and looking handsome as ever, she spoke again, "You look nice, by the way."

"I do clean up pretty good, don't I?" Jay teased, pretending to adjust his tie as his lips turned into a smirk. He chuckled when she playfully rolled her eyes. "Thank you. You look great."

Brooke adverted his gaze to try and conceal her smile. She hated the way that she barely knew this man yet he made her feel like a giddy teenager. Her eyes landed on the court house again.

"Guess I better go inside before I change my mind," Brooke only half-joked with a sigh.

"After you," Jay said after taking a few steps forward, opening the door for her.
