On July 13, 2013, at the age of 31, Monteith was found dead in his room at The Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia.
He had been scheduled to check out on July 13, but when he failed to do so, hotel staff entered his room and discovered his body.
Although Vancouver police said that the cause of death was not immediately apparent, foul play was ruled out.
An autopsy is scheduled for July 15.
Monteith's publicist issued this brief statement following the police news conference, "We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate.
We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."
