As we rode I sucked in all the air the bush could give me. I looked at Damien ,Conrad,Dan and Cap( short for Captain Gunpowder) . I'd failed Mary . Suddenly I heard a gunshot up ahead ,
"Shhh" Dan whispered .
" come on trappers take a shortcut cross the creek regroup at the other side " I whispered .
Slowly we walked up the hill not making a noise . We were standing on a rocky platform . We could see the trappers quite clearly now . But what they were holding was disgusting , a dead body with its arms ripped off. I saw Scandlon looking down at a mark drawn in the sand , the same mark I have branded into my arm. Just under my elbow but on the inside . Scandlon has the same mark too. It brought back horroyfying memories .
We cantered across the creek and bolted up another rocky slope down another hill across a ditch around a cave almost there .
We arrived at the hut. We quickly put out the fire and grabbed our valuables I don't know where we were heading know but it was definetly far away .
I thought of Mary . My Mary . I just hope Scandlon doesn't take opportunity of her whilst I'm away.
Mary the women who runs 3 businesses In town . Yet she's a single mother.
Suddenly I heard a galloping noise behind us. A girl with grime on her face, long shaggy blond hair , riding a white horse, dirty clothes this women doesn't look like a prostiute , publican or any shop keeper.
"Hand over valuables gold, money ,watches anything ya got" she said
"Are you serious " Damien asked
She drew out 2 pistols and pointed them at us .
Slowly I handed over the 1 pound and 10 shillings I had . I saw the other guys hand over a pocket watch, a couple gold nuggets, money and a silver hair acesscorie.
"Now take off your pants" she said , pointing at Damien and I . I thought Emilia , she would love to see this.
"Have you been following us the whole time ?" Asked Cap
"Yep" she said ," I set off a bomb going the opposite direction they followed it , the idiots . "
I chuckle at her joke
"Thanks " I said
A look in Dans eye told me not to say no more.

3 days later
Since then Jessie had come with us . She was really pretty once she had had a wash . Her beautiful blond hair flowed down her back.
I thought back to Mary . My beautiful Mary . Where we were now was a two hour ride to town 45 minutes if u galloped amd really pushed it. We were going in later that afternoon so we really are leaving after lunch. .
Jessie slept away from us next to her horse , who was known as Ghost it suited the big white gelding who stood at about 15hh . Somehow I felt they had a really strong connection.

Mary's pov
"Another whiskey mama" a man asked sitting there with his head down.
"Sure thing "
I continued to cut up the potatoes . Suddenly a jar of jam appeared next to my hand .
Red jam . Red jam red Jam
" I brought it for you you know " I look up scandlons standing there.
" how'd you get it"
"I have my sources " was all I got back
" come on let's steal our selves an hour and just eat the jam and chat ."
" I can't I have to run the pub" I said
" surly Rosie can do it for a while"
I felt un-easy .
" ok fine " I say . A grin spreads across his face.
1 hour later sitting by a dam.
I munch on the jam happily I'm so glad I brought the bread . It's so peaceful.
" how's your business going " Mick asks ( Scandlons name is mick but we call him Scandlon sometimes)
" it's okay " I say as I lay back on the blanket .
"You have a bit of Jam on your lip" he says
Slowly he leans in , my hearts racing . Our lips touch. Soft lips . He pulls me up to sit in his lap . Our kiss is more passionate this time . After we break apart and pack up .
" I have to go back to the pub ill see you later " I say
He just smiles .
As I hope into the cart . I think about what i'v done . Oh we'll , ill just see how this turns out.
