Soon enough, the two made it to the Diglett Mines. The workers, Diglett, were staring at the entrance of the mines. "Well, he sure did run by fast," one of the Digletts said and the others nodded in agreement. "The boss ain't going to be happy," another one commented and the workers shivered at the thought of their boss's wrath.

"Hey, did a Chimchar ran through here?" Treecko asked as she and Erin came to a stop. The Diglett turned around to face the two. "The Chimchar from the village? Yeah, he ran into the mines," one of them said. "Oh, good, we found him," Erin sighed in relief. "Thank you, can we go in and look for him," Treecko asked.

"Of course not! These mines aren't for children to go and run around in like some sort of park," a Diglett snapped. "Please, we don't have time for this," Erin pleaded. "Nope!" the Diglett said stubbornly. Treecko sighed annoyed as she looked around. "Hey, look! A shiny apple!" she yelled. The Digletts sweatdropped, "I know she's lying...but I can't help to look," one of them said.

As the workers turned away to look, the two bolted to the entrance. "How didn't you know that was going to work?" Erin asked. "I didn't, but let's not focus too much on that right now," Treecko replied. Erin nodded, "Right," she agreed determined as the two raced into the dungeon.

Soon enough, the two made it down to the bottom of the mine to see Chimchar battling a Pokémon. "Give it up, runt. I told you not to come down here," the Pokémon said clearly annoyed. "Shut up, I'm here to prove myself!" Chimchar yelled as he ran at the Pokémon. The Pokémon huffed as it slapped the Chimp Pokémon to the side with one of his big ears.

"This is no place for a brat like you," the Pokémon said as he walked towards the Fire Type. "Shut up! I'm here to prove that I can join the Expedition Society!" Chimchar yelled as he tried to get up. The Pokémon stared at Chimchar, before laughing. "I gotta admit, you've got guts, but not enough to make it to the Society. Take him away," the Pokemon said as walked away.

Suddenly, Chimchar was pulled into the ground, and vanished. The Pokémon grunted, "Brave kid, but has a poor sense of judgement," it huffed as it turned around, and started to walk towards a hole in the back of the room. "Chimchar!" Erin and Treecko yelled as the Chimp Pokemon disappeared into the ground. The Pokémon groaned, "Great, more kids! What the heck are those Diglett doing up there? Throwing a party!?" it groaned as it turned around.

"What did you do to him!" Erin demanded as she and Treecko stepped forward. The Pokémon grunted, "I had the Digletts take him to my office to be held till a parent or guardian comes and picks him up," it said simply. "We came to pick him up, so please release him," Treecko said pleadingly. "No can do, you two. Only a parent can get the little brat back. That's the policy here, and I ain't getting in trouble with my superior just because I decide to bend the rules a little for some wet behind the ear brats," the Pokémon grunted.

"Then where is this superior of your's? we'd like to speak to him," Erin said. "My superior ain't here, at the moment. So you can just go on back and get his parent or guardian to come get him. I'm not going to let little kids walk all over me, so just give it up," the Pokémon grunted as it cracked its hand like ears in an almost threatening way.

Erin narrowed her eyes. "It doesn't seem like he'll listen to reason. Treecko, I think we're going to have to fight him," she said seriously. The Wood Gecko nodded, "Yeah, it looks that way," she said as she got ready to fight. "I am the Underground Boss Diggersby, and in this here mines, my word is law. And I think it's about time I gave you a little lesson on manners!" the Pokemon yelled as he got ready to fight.

"Here he comes. Get ready," Treecko warned. Erin nodded and got ready to fight. Diggersby roared and charged at the two with a tackle. The two Pokemon dodged the attack. "Here I go! Bubble!" Erin yelled as she shot a stream of bubbles from her mouth. "Quick Attack!" Treecko yelled as she ran at the Digging Pokemon.

"You two lack one of the most important things that any tagteam should have! Teamwork!" Diggersby scolded as he grabbed Treecko with his powerful ears, and threw her in at the oncoming water attack. The Wood Gecko cried out in pain as she was hit in the back. "Treecko!" Erin yelled worried. "I'm alright, I'm not weak against water attacks," her friend said as she stood up.

Erin nodded as she turned her gaze back on Diggersby. "Alright, let's see how you handle my own tackle!" she yelled as she charged at him. "Leer!" Treecko yelled as she glared at the Digging Pokemon. Diggersby growled as Treecko leered at him, and he was hit by Erin's Bubble. "Don't screw with me!" he yelled as he bounce into the air. "Bulldozer!" he yelled as he hit the ground with his powerful feet.

"Ahhh!" Treecko and Erin cried as they fell to the ground. "They don't call me the Underground Boss for nothing you know," Diggersby said. "Well then, Underground Boss. Let's see how you handle this!" Erin shouted as she waved a wand in his direction. The soft blue light of the wand shot at the Digging Pokemon, and he fell asleep.

"Awesome! Quick thinking there, Erin," Treecko praised. Erin nodded, "Treecko, use Absorb on him," she ordered. Treecko nodded and walked up to the ground and normal type. "Absorb!" she yelled as green orbs came floating off of Diggersby. "Do you think that was enough?" the Wood Gecko asked as she turned towards her friend.

"I don't know. Maybe this will work," Erin suggested as she pulled out a seed from their bag. "A Blast Seed? Good thinking," Treecko praised. Just then, Diggersby yawned as he awoke. The Digging Pokémon looked around, till his small eyes landed on the two. "You two! Dang it, go away! Tackle!" he yelled as he charged. "I don't think so!" Erin yelled as she threw the Blast Seed at the Digging Pokemon.

"Ahhh!" Diggersby yelled as the Blast Seed blew up and he fainted. "Yay! We won!" Treecko cheered. Erin smiled, "Yeah, it looks like we did," she agreed. But their victory was short lived as Diggersby's shadow loomed over Treecko. "I've had enough of you two! Hammer Ar-" the Digging Pokemon started to say, but stopped as a voice raised in the room. "Enough! Good lord, can I leave for a few days, and not come back and find you not in a fight?" the voice asked annoyed.

The three occupancies jumped at the voice, and looked around the room. "B-boss!? What are you doing back so early!?" Diggersby asked surprised. The voice huffed as a Pokémon appeared out of the darkness of the room. The owner of the voice was a dark purple squid-like Pokemon.

"I finished my business early, and decided to check out this branch of my growing empire, to find you attacking poor innocent children. Again," the Pokémon said as two Digletts appeared beside it. "You two, go retrieve their friend," it ordered. "Right away, sir!" they cheered as they disappeared into the ground.

"Well it looks like we're getting Chimchar back," Treecko commented. "Yep, looks that way," Erin said bluntly. Malamar turned towards the two and smiled softly. "I apologize for any trouble my subordinate has caused," he said. "No, that's alright. We just want to get Chimchar back," Treecko said.

"Don't you worry, the Digletts know every turn and every twist of the caverns below us. That's why I sent them to get your friend. Speaking of which, here they come now," Malamar said as Chimchar and the two Digletts reappeared. "Chimchar!" Erin and Chimchar yelled as they hurried over towards the Chimp Pokemon.

"Poor dear, out cool. Thanks to a certain someone," Malamar said as he narrowed his eyes at Diggersby. The Digging Pokémon chuckled nervously. "I was just following your orders, sir," he said nervously. "By bullying a group of child? Diggersby, must I replace you with your partner again as the boss of these mines?" the Overturn Pokémon asked.

Diggersby's eyes widened, "N-no, please not that," he pleaded. Malamar sighed and shook his head in disappointment. "What am I going to do with you," the Overturn Pokémon muttered. The two sweat dropped at the two Pokémon. "Could we, you know, go now?" Treecko asked as he lifted her brother onto her back. Erin nodded, "Are you going to be okay?" she asked as she glanced at Treecko. "Yeah, this isn't the first time that I had to carry Chimchar somewhere," the Wood Gecko reassured.

Erin nodded, "Let's get out of here, this place is starting to creep me out?" she asked. Malamar chuckled, "I'll lead you out of here," he assured. Treecko nodded, "Thank you, sir," she said happily. "No problem, let's get going," Malamar said and the three started to head out of the room.

In only a few minutes, the four arrived on the exited the mines. "Erin, I believe you are staying with the professor," Malamar said. Erin blinked, "Yeah, I do, But how did you know my name?" she asked surprised. Malamar chuckled, "For two reasons; one, I'm a psychic type. Two, I'm the one that funds the professor's expeditions," he said.

"So you're the one that funds his expeditions! I always wondered who gave him all that Poké," Treecko said. Malamar chuckled, "Yes, well me and Heliolisk are old friends," he said. Erin nodded, "Speaking of which, do you know when Heliolisk is coming back?" she asked. The OverturnPokémon chuckled, "Heliolisk went to Barren Canyon. There are rumors that there is a Nature Shard hidden in the deepest part of the forest," he said.

"A Nature Shard!? Wow, that's amazing! I hope he finds it!" Treecko said amazed. "A Nature Shard? What's that?" Erin asked confused."I'm surprised Heliolisk didn't give you one of his enthusiast speaks about them. Nature Shards are the items that keep the nature of this world in balance. If they all were to be taken from their shrine, then nature would start to distort and our world will be forever change. It is a archaeologist's dream of find finding one. Heck, some archaeologists spend their entire life looking for one," Malamar explained.

"Wow, those sound amazing," Erin said in awe. Treecko nodded, "I've always wonder if any Archaeologist have ever found one. It would be awesome if Heliolisk were the first one to find one," she said. Malamar nodded, "As much as I love to educate your growing minds, I should really leave that to your teachers," he said with a chuckle.

Erin laughed, "If you say so. Shouldn't we get going now?" she asked. Treecko nodded, "Of course, let's hurry," she agreed."I shall come along. I don't want you to get into anymore trouble on the way back. Especially with your friend out cold like this," Malamar said.

Erin nodded, "That sounds reasonable, thanks," she said."My pleasure. I haven't been to Serene Village in ages, so this will be a nice change of pace for me," Malamar replied. Treecko nodded, "Okay, let's get going," she said and the three started on their way back to Serene Village.
