Although, my vision was bad, I knew that it was in fact a red light and the people I saw were the people crossing to the right whereas I was going to cross front.

Then nausea came over me as well as a pounding headache. My limbs felt too tired to caring anything and I dropped my bag. I swayed and let out short pants as the headache and the nausea was affecting me greatly.

That's when I heard it, the tires squealing as well as people screaming.

Chapter 16

Arielle's Mother POV

Dustin, Arielle's father, and I were enjoying our champagne, ready for our night. It was a surprise that Dustin actually wanted to spend money since he was so stingy. I was worried leaving so sudden and so long from home because Arielle was in such a difficult situation and we were having so much fun. I knew that despite how hard it might be, Arielle would pull through.

Dustin and I were hoping to celebrate our days off by rewarding ourselves with an expensive dinner and fun at night. However, Dustin got drunk too easily and we weren't able to fulfill our fun. We promised to not to do it when we were drunk.

After I put Dustin to bed, I decided to call home to check up on Arielle. I was worried when no one picked up because she would usually be at home when it was summer vacation. I called her cellphone and a strange woman picked up.

"Um, is this not Arielle's phone?" I timidly asked, afraid I got the wrong number.

"Oh, you're the mother of this patient. This is the Avenue Hospital, your daughter was involved in a car accident and is in a surgery right now. It would be best if you were to come to the hospital right away."

After hearing the 2nd to last sentence, I paled. I wondered if this was a joke Arielle was pulling for ditching her on a vacation. I hoped it was. However, risking the fact that even if it was a joke and I was going to be laughed at by Arielle, I called a cab right away. I left a note to Dustin about the situation and what I did. Then I took a cab to the hospital. Thankfully the driver knew and gave me a fast ride. Paying a hundred dollar and without getting the change back, I ran to the hospital.

"Arielle Summers."

"Mother?"

"Yes."

"Room 317"

It was a quick, short conversation but it took every second of my time. I went up Arielle's room and opened the door with a loud "Bang".

The sight of Arielle took my breath away. Her neck was in a cast, her head was covered with bandages, her leg and arm were casted. What I couldn't believe was the fact that she was wearing an oxygen mask. I ran to her, tears drowning me.

The doctor in charge of Arielle came to me and told me that I needed to speak with him. I was afraid, I have never felt this much fear. After speaking with him for 30 minutes, I was updated on her situation. I thought that it might have been a minor accident but she was on life support. I was hoping this was a nightmare or a prank but it wasn't. Then the doctor spoke the words I never wished to hear.

"Ma'am. She might not make it." At that moment, I wanted to drown myself in tears.
