When Two Skateboards Crash

When Octavian arrived at his house, he started getting ready to lazy around and sleep. His phone bothered him again and looked at the phone screen. As he expected, it was Derek. When he was about to open the message, Derek bursted into his house, looking as if he was granted a life supply of chips and motor bikes.

"Dude, what do you want?"

"Arielle, she moved!"

Chapter 10

Arielle POV

When I opened my eyes, my parents, some guys and doctors with nurses were standing in front of me. My mom suddenly was tearful and hugged me, or rather squeezed me to death, while my dad tried to keep a brave face when he had tears in his eyes. I didn't know what happened and why there were strangers in my room. That's when I noticed the IV next to me and realized I was in a hospital. I was a genius, wasn't I?

"Eh, what happened?"

The people in my room all had confused faces except for the doctor and the nurse.

"Temporary amnesia might happen since she woke up earlier than we expected." As soon as the doctor said that, my parents hugged each other, my mother sobbing loudly. My dad, more composed than my sobbing mother, asked the doctor until when I forgot my memory. It was now my turn to wear the confused face as I didn't know what they were talking about. I knew I didn't lose any of my memory. Yesterday was my 9th birthday which meant... I missed school!

Bang. My room's door opened and 2 guys came in, one of them looked rather familiar to me. When he saw me, he came running to me and hugged the life out of me.

"Who are you?" I asked him, but apparently that wasn't what I was supposed to say as the guy's face looked broken and dreadful. Other guys who were standing in my room went to him and whispered. I never thought that boys would cry, or at least not in front of people, but this guy had little crystal like tears falling down on his face. Before he could answer my question, though, the doctor interrupted.

"Please come follow me to my office. I will explain her situation to you."

My parents obediently followed the doctor out of my room leaving the 4 boys and the nurse in my room. The nurse seemed to have finished checking my state and stuff and left the room. The guys stood on either side of my bed and stared at me as if I was an alien.

"What? Instead of staring at me, you should introduce yourself." I snapped. Although my mother said that I have to be polite to everyone, these guys were gettin on my nerve. Then one by one from my right to left, they introduced their names. The last guy was the one holding my hand as if it was his life.

"I.. I'm Octavian." I knew that name and his face was similar. A light bulb suddenly lighted in my head.

"Hey, you're Octavian! Explains that your face is familiar! You were the kid who was bullied and I came to your rescue, right? Though, how did you become so... Big?" I teased him a bit then got curious.

During the time I was speaking, Octavian's face changed from shock to hope. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the same nurse from before.

"She's getting too excited. The doctor ordered to give her a sedative so she could get a rest."

The nurse was speaking big words like sedative that I didn't get it when she suddenly stabbed, maybe not stabbed, a needle in my arm. I was getting sleepy but before I went to sleep, I got a few words out to the boys, putting my hand beside my mouth as if I was whispering to them.

"Octavian... The guy I like... Shh.. It's a secret, you can't tell anyone." Giggling to myself, I fell asleep thinking that they were going to tell anyway since there was no secret in 2nd grade.
