I shut the door to the car and carefully step out. Sadly I forgot it rained last night and I stepped into the biggest puddle I have ever seen and got my red converse shoes soaked. Well this is what I get for being optimistic, those shoes were seventy dollars. I give a half smile to papa and step onto the mushy sidewalk. Slush, slush, slush go my wet shoes dripping it's bright color onto the concrete. Kids enter the school holding the door for their friends then dropping it on me. I fall down and get dirt on my new black leggings. I rush to get up and dust them off, then I push the door and unlike the unkind kids who drop the door on me I hold it for a couple kids in sight, then go in myself. just another day at Glenwood Jr. High... As I walk in the school a ton of kids swarm around the "Glen board" (the board where everything is posted). After some of the kids leave I go to check out, wondering what everyone is so excited about. But when I arrive at the board I smirk then walk away. Ahh the Glenwood Jr. High talent show. I can't sign up, I'll just be made fun of by Carrie and her friends. Word says that Carrie and her friends are doing a dance routine. I've always wanted to be in the talent show but two years later I'm in eighth grade and I still haven't had the courage to sign up. Carrie always says I'm not good enough and I could never win the talent show, so why bother? Finally the bell rings. This is just great! I have English class and I haven't even gotten half way in "To Kill a Mockingbird" I quickly grab my literature learning book and two pencils and hope for the best.
