Bella ignored Edward the rest of the day. It was time to leave and when Edward tried to stop her, she ignored him yet again and just walked to her locker. She put her books away and then she went straight to her truck. She pulled out of the lot without looking back to see if he followed and headed right for the elementary school.

Five minutes later, she pulled in and got out walking into the front door to find Elizabeth sitting on the bench crying. "Liz?" Bella asked cautiously as she knelt down in front of her. "Hunny, what's wrong?"

"I... I have n...n...no d...d...d...d...daddy!" She stuttered out through her tears.

"No you don't. But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing."

"But it IS!"

"Baby, why's it a bad thing?"

Elizabeth wiped her tears and sniffled. She looked at her mother sadly. "Because everyone is supposed to have their daddys come in tomorrow and talk about their jobs and what they do at their jobs. But I'm the only one that doesn't have a daddy. My friends are sorry for me, but Mrs. Mortar said that Grandpa couldn't fill in. She was gonna make an exception for YOU to speak, but because you don't work, it's not possible."

"Is there an alternative assignment you can do instead?"

"No. I asked if I could write about what my daddy would do if I had one, but she said no."

"Do you want me to talk to her?"

"No. She's not here. She left already."

"Ok. Well, maybe if we find you a daddy temporarily, HE can come in and speak."

"Do you know someone?"

"I do. He loves kids and his dad's a doctor."

"What's his name?"

"His name is Edward. He's Mommy's age."

"Is he nice?"

"Well, not so much to me. But he loves kids."

"Why doesn't he like you?"

"I don't know. But I'm gonna find out. Come on." Bella said and picked her up.

Elizabeth grabbed her backpack and they were out the door. Bella helped her in the truck then got in herself. Liz put her seat-belt on and they were off towards home.
