Josh sits straight up in bed, throwing the blankets off both of us. "What's the matter?" I ask, sitting up with him. He holds his hand up to shush me.

"Jason, stop, stop crying. Tell me what you need." He says.

"Why's Jason crying?" I ask. Obviously he doesn't answer.

"Okay. I'm up now. We'll be there as soon as possible." He drops the phone on the bed and climbs out. "Get up. Get dressed." He says.

I get out of bed. "What's going on?" I ask.

"Daniel's in the emergency room in the city. We're going. Get dressed."

"What's he in the city for?" I ask, grabbing the first thing in the closet and putting it on. I find a pair of leggings and pull them on my legs, following Josh up the stairs.

"Somebody broke into their house." He says, grabbing a pair of shoes and the keys to his car. I grab a pair of my own and lock the front door behind me. There's snow and ice still, but Josh doesn't seem to notice. He jumps into the car and is backing out of the driveway before either of us have our seatbelts on. "I don't know what all happened, but I know that Daniel got shot. He's in the emergency room now."

"Oh my gosh."

"Yeah, and Jason asked us to come. So we're going."

"Of course." I say, putting my seatbelt on. He puts the car in drive and speeds off. I turn and look at him. "Do you want me to drive? You're shaking."

"I'm fine. I just want to get there." He says quickly.

"Okay. Put your seatbelt on, at least."

He does as I say and, despite my attempts, doesn't talk for the rest of the thirty minute drive into the city.

It's so early, so there's almost no cars. Josh goes as fast as he wants and we get there in a little more than twenty minutes.

When we get there, we find Jason in a waiting room. He hugs Josh first, then me. His eyes are red and I can feel him shaking when he hugs me. We sit down and wait for about two hour before he's out of surgery.

A nurse escorts us to his room and we sit for I don't even know how long, waiting for him to wake up. We're there until morning. Josh and Jason are awake the whole night, but I give in and rest my head down on his bed.

I don't know how long I'm asleep for, but I wake up to someone rubbing my head.

I put my head up and look around to see who it is. Both Jason and Josh are looking at me smiling, but they're not touching me. I turn my head the other way to look at Daniel. His eyes are open and he smiles when I look at him. "Hey, baby bump." He says in a scraggly voice.

I sit up the rest of the way. "Hey. How are you feeling?"

"I don't feel anything." He says, shaking his head and smiling. "I don't know what they gave me, but it's good."

"You guys don't have to stay here now that he's awake." Jason says.

"I'll stay until your parents get here." Josh says.

"Molly needs to go home. She needs to get some real sleep." Daniel says.

"I'm fine. I had a nice nap." I say. Jason sighs.

"Then what you could do is go get Dawson. I'm sure he hasn't slept since he left him with the neighbors."

I forgot all about Dawson. "I can do that." I say, standing up.

"Don't bring him here, though. Can you take him back to your house? Keep him there for a while?"

"Of course," I say.
