AT SCHOOL
11:58 2 Minutes Until Lunch
The last question on my reading class homework reads, 'Is she happy? If so why? If not, why not?' I wanted to say she was happy, Caroline from the book we were assigned to read last week. But, her father had died and same with her brother, but her beau was back safe and he had just proposed to her.
I would have known if she was happy if I could just be her, wouldn't I? I am yet to know if she is the kind of person who loves family more than friends, or friends more than family. More over the fact that she might not still be in complete love with her EX-Beau as soon as he returns from war. And did she really care about her father's death because he left her? I answer: Yes, because George is a nice guy, and perfect for her to devote her love to.
Packing my binder, notes, and writing utilities into my backpack, I glance up to see Ashley looking at me almost disgusted. "What do you want?" I ask, trying to stand my ground. "Take a picture, it lasts longer!" She saw I questioned a bit by her actions, getting the hint, she shifted her knees towards me. "I was thinking," she defended. "Who was that girl yesterday? You talked to her, didn't you?"
I craned my neck closer to her so she'd hear me if I had to whisper. "her name is Pierce," I said. "Pierce Fennec. She tried out for the girl's Basketball team yesterday, she's really good." I put emphasis on really, though it didn't matter. Ashley has never been interested by sports, unless its at a pep rally with some douche bag of a boy for a date.
She turned around, as that was all she had to know. Clock ticking the seconds until 12:00, I turn to see the teacher caught up in a game of Candy Crush. This was my chance to get a move on, I push my body to the floor with my backpack under me. Sliding like a leech I make it to the door, "Yo," I whisper to the student by the door. "Can you help me out here? Blow your nose so I can leave." He and I used to be friends, his name is Nicolas. Nicolas takes a tissue from his pocket and preforms the task, taking his time so I can easily open the door and glide out to the hall.
"Thanks," I mouthed before I shut the door behind me. I hug the backpack against my chest, and came to a squat, still keeping low. I open the door to outside the school, to avoid getting trampled on the way to my destination. Gloria awaits at my locker, jacket over her head laying on the floor. "Hey sunshine," I spoke softly, but not reaching the raspy sound of a whisper. "How long have you been here?" she lifted her head a little to see who I was, I smile forming when she identified me. "Oh, around ten minutes. I got my homework done quickly. Speaking of quick, put your stuff up so we don't feel the wrath of 376 teenagers!"
