DARREN'S POV:
Why isn't Emily answering my calls and texts?
I constantly dial her number, praying that she'll answer.
I constantly send her messages, praying that she'll reply.
I kept calling and messaging until I knew exactly what to say to her.
I've never panicked this much about a girl.
Why am I acting like this?
Emily and I are just friends, I don't know what's going on with me.
My mom overheard me talking to myself.
"It's because you're in love with her, anak. You need to tell her that."
I didn't expect my mom to hear what I was saying.
But she is my mom, she'll support me in anything, so there's no reason why I shouldn't talk to her about relationship problems.
"Mom, we were fine last night. Nothing bad happened."
"What exactly happened, anak?" My mom asked.
"Well, after dinner last night, she told me that her parents got back home, and so she went home. But before she left, she hugged me. And that was it. I'm not sure why she's not talking to me."
"She's scared, anak. If I were in your shoes, I'd tell her how I really feel. Message Emily and tell her that you need her ASAP."
"Thank you, ma!" I told my mom as I hugged her.
I grabbed my phone and texted Emily.
"Please come and talk to me. I need you."
As I sent the text, my doorbell rang.
"Coming!" I yelled.
As I opened the door, I said "Hello, what do you nee-"
I got caught off because of what I saw.
My jaw literally dropped.
