Chapter Fifteen
H is for You’re only Happy when You’re High
Harrison laid lazily in a daze in the grass a joint in his hand; this seemed such a normal way to be spending his Monday afternoon after a hard day of listening to nothing but crap coming out of teachers mouths. He seemed so relaxed that was unto he saw Clara sulkily crossing the football pitch where he laid, immediately he sat up taking in her strut. She looked to be in a case of serve rage, and he knew that meant trouble but it wasn’t about to stop him!
“Hey Maine, wait up!” He yelled running towards her in his brand new physical body.
Clara rooted to the spot turned and saw him running, she couldn’t help but feel a little flushed but maybe that was her rage. Instead of running like the other times she stayed still, Harrison stopped to look at her closely. Their eyes meeting in a moment, Harrison held back his hands although all he wanted to do was hold onto her delicate frame.
He could see she’d been crying her face tear stained and white, she looked so fragile and vulnerable it made him scared.
“Why did you come back?” Clara stuttered looking up at him, she could tell he’d been having a joint his eyes were blood shot.
“I didn’t have a choice!” It seemed true for Harrison had thought a million other places to be when he finally escaped, back full circle hadn’t been what he’d really anticipated even if he had missed Clara achingly.
Clara moved in closer she was squarely looking into Harrison’s eyes. “You didn’t just come back because of me!” Clara said, there seemed to be something of disgust in her voice.
“I wanted to come back a long time for you C, but how could I escape?” Harrison sounded remorseful, but in no sense happy about the conversation being played out.
“You didn’t even bother to write!” Clara pulled away a fresh batch of tears falling. “I thought you cared about me Harrison but you left me alone defenceless, you never stopped what he did!”
Harrison grabbed Clara and pulled her into a strong embrace, “If I could have told someone sooner...” He whispered into her ear.
Clara let out a huge whimper.
“I’m sorry I left you!” said Harrison.
All out in the open and all looking to appear at peace Harrison finally felt his cold heart skip a beat again he felt like meaning was back. Things were happy, things would be alright. Wouldn’t they?
But the thing is nothing ever can be put back on a shelf like nothing happened, something got broke and something mended. The problem is the truth can’t stay buried forever and which is worst keep a lie or tell a lie?
News will be out soon and I’m going to stop at nothing to the secret is exposed; I don’t believe everyone should be in on an act if I can’t join in too. It’s only fair in love and war, for it takes two to tango and I want to tango.
Oh poor Harrison can you really protect yourself and little C, happiness only lasts a little while. We can’t always be on a honey moon!
